Hey there :)
I´m Januschka Bretscher, 19 years old and live in Düsseldorf, Germany. In June I finished school there.

I have always dreamed of travelling around the world after school, collecting experiences, learn more about this planet and widen my horizons before beginning to study something.
Costa Rica has always been a big part of this dream because I heard a lot about the country, the nature and the people from my parents who lived there for a few years (about 25 years ago).

Actually, my plans have kind of changed and my idea is to stay in Costa Rica for a long time (about 9 months from october on) to make one deeper experience and to have time to settle down. I want to work and live as a volunteer in different projects to experience Costa Rica from different point of views. I´m interested in everything that deals with environmental protection, sustainablility, animals, and so on. I´m open to anything outside in the nature where I can get my hands dirty by doing someting meaningful for our planet.

Therefore I am actually searching for projects, where I can stay and work for aproximately one month each.

I love getting to know new places, culture and people, am always happy to learn new things, and am just looking forward to all the adventures to come in Costa Rica :)

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I would desribe myself as a calm, careful and always positive thinking person. On the other hand I´m definitely an adventurous and social person who loves to have people around, talking, having fun togehter, playing something, whatever.
I´m curious, diligent and highly motivated to learn new things and would say I´m very uncomplicated from every point of view.
My hobbies at home are playing the clarinette, dancing (ballett and also a bit standart and latin, I would love to learn about the Costa Rican dancing culture too :)), all that has to do with water (especially sailing and windsurfing), all things around horses and much more...

I speak german and I would say my english is actually quite okay and good enough to talk normally, as long as it doesn´t get to subject-specific. I don´t speak any spanish yet, but at the first place in Costa Rica where I will stay for a few weeks, I will take spanish lessons and hopefully learn fast from then on.

In general I`m very interested in all things that have something to do with nature, environmetal protection or animals. For my familiy, subjects like environmental protection and consciosness about our way of living has always been very important. So I have no idea where this interests may come from :) I´m also interested in politics and there are nearly no demonstrations in our area for more climate justice or against the current shift to the right in politics where you can´t find me.
I eat vegetarian am also open for living vegan during my stay :)

As I have just finished school in June, I have no real experience in working life and can´t help with special knoledge. But as I visited a Waldorf-school, I got the chance to collect experiences in different areas through interships. I´ve been on a ecologic farm cooperative (I have spend there many weeks in my holidays after the internship, took care of animals, helped harvesting and other things, I just loved it so much), at the swiss research institute for climate and agriculture "agroscope" and in a youth centre for four weeks each. In general I always had much to do with crafting and arts at school too.
As my father is a biologist and my whole familiy loves being outside, our holidays and weekends always were about hiking in the mountains, searching for mushrooms, building Tipis in the forest, gardening and so on :)

For now I´m looking forward to work outside in a new environment, with new people and maybe other volunteers, get my hands dirty and my head free before starting to study something and go on with this schoolar everyday learning.
