  • Quelles sont vos compétences ?

    Janusz:
I am a lawyer, but after 16 years of working in court as a judge, I decided to leave this profession and do something quieter and closer to nature. Together with my wife we live in a house in the countryside, where in 2014 I set up a beehive. At the moment I have 12 hives. Taking care of bees, in addition to inspections, feeding and fighting varroa (a dangerous bee disease), also involves planting and sowing honey plants on our plot.
For about 5 years I have been working as a volunteer in a shelter for homeless animals (dogs and cats), of which there are many in Poland. According to research conducted by my wife’s association, there are 70,000 new homeless dogs in our country every year. In the shelter I work as a man of all trades, for example I repair damaged equipment, I build and clean the boxes and take dogs for walks.
    I have a driver’s license.
I am a handyman. I build hives and equipment for my apiary myself, generally I do well in working with wood. For years I have been operating a chainsaw, hedge trimmers and a gas mower. I am a beginner welder. I can lay tiles and terracotta, but only on easy surfaces. I love working with stone, I built paths, flower beds and wells.

    Agnieszka:
I am a lawyer engaged in working for the legal protection of animals in Poland. In 2007, I founded a watchdog-type social organization, which deals with, among other things, the problem of animal homelessness in its public dimension, monitors the activities of shelters for homeless animals, dog catchers and the policy of authorities towards animals. I collect and publish source information. I have conducted many criminal, civil, and administrative cases, the aim of which was to improve the fate of animals in Poland.
In 2016 I came up with and implemented a project for the mobile neutering of dogs and cats in rural poor regions of Poland. The neutering procedures are free or very cheap for pet owners and are performed in a specially designed and equipped car trailer, which serves as a kind of veterinary clinic on wheels (called a ‘sterylbus’). I have currently purchased and I am equipping the third sterylbus, with the goal of having 16 in total (as many as there are provinces in Poland).

I am very dedicated to working for animals and patient in caring for them. I currently have 6 dogs (all were homeless and were taken in by me). I intervene in cases of animal abuse. As a volunteer I sometimes help at an animal shelter.
    I have a driver’s license.
I am very pedantic and meticulous in all tasks, especially in cleaning. My husband claims that I am too meticulous :)
I like working in the garden, I have basic knowledge about plant care, I can prune fruit trees (including olive trees) and shrubs.
I have been consistently segregating waste since 2000.
Collecting garbage in the woods and roadside ditches is not a problem for me. I have been doing this in my village since 2002, since we moved there. I have the impression that after years of such activity, my neighbors litter much less :)
I love cross-stitch embroidery and I have done many works in this technique.
I have been practicing ice swimming for 4 years.

    Both:
We love dancing. We have been practicing ballroom dancing (standard and latin) for 15 years. We also successfully practice pair figure skating.

  • Autres infos...

Due to the difficult history of our country, located behind the Iron Curtain until 1989, neither our grandparents nor our parents could travel around the world. We would like to catch up on these multi-generational arrears, especially we love visiting other countries. However, due to financial reasons, we cannot do it as often as we would like, which is why we think that joining workaway is a great idea.
