Description

First of all welcome to my profile! My name is Isabelle, and I am looking for a fun, welcoming host who could use an extra pair of hands and/or brains.
My name is Isabelle, I'm 23 years old and in love with nature and being outside.
I live in the Netherlands in the city of Groningen, in an old hospital that was squatted in the 70s. Now we form an intentional community with the people living here, where we try to do as much ourselves as possible. I live together with my super sweet cat Tibbe and my 2 chickens (who are part of a group of 9 chickens).
I study children's psychology and developmental sciences (roughly translated) at the university in Groningen and will graduate with my bachelor's degree in 2024. Right now I'm writing my thesis about the effects of missing a tribe (of caring adults) growing up.

I am an adventurous person and love animals, gardening, yoga, going for runs, swimming in the nearby lake, and talking to people. Although I also need some quiet time a day to be able to keep functioning. Right now I'm also really into spinning wool, weaving, knitting, crocheting, and sewing clothing.

From 2018 to 2020 I traveled around the world to a lot of different countries where I had a lot of Workaway and WWOOFing experiences. Because of COVID I had to go home and my Workaway profile got closed down because I didn't use it for 3 years. But I'm restarting it now!

My favorite volunteering experience was staying at Wilderland, New Zealand. An organic (almost completely) self-sufficient community where we lived with around 30 people. My plan was to stay there for 1 month, but I ended up staying way longer. I loved living outside with like-minded people, always having someone to connect with if I felt like it but also having enough space to be alone with my thoughts. Learning about organic gardening, compost toilets, making ointments, healing herbs, fruit harvest, and keeping a community happy and healthy (cause tension rises quickly when you're together 24/7 :))

I'm really hoping to find a new favourite experience, but a bit closer to home. Because of the climate crisis we're in, I can't justify flying as much anymore.
