Hello! :)

Igor is from Portugal and is 25 years old. He has recently finished his master’s in Anthropology, and, before hopefully starting PhD studies next September, he decided to take this gap year in order to learn new things, roll up his sleeves in hands-on projects, and meet exciting, passionate people!

Matilde is Italian and she's 20 years old. She decided to take a second gap year to better understand if whether Biology might be the right path for her to take at university. So she wants to use this year to learn as much as she can, in every possible way.

We are friends who met at a permaculture farm in Belgium, and we will be travelling to Costa Rica in December! :)

Igor has done workaway for some months in the fall of 2021 and in the summer of 2022, staying at a sheep farm, at a community project, among others.
Matilde has worked as waitress and kitchen assistant. She worked in a Prosecco winery, and she really enjoy grape harvest time.

Recently, we volunteered at a permaculture farm from January to November 2025, where we maintained gardens and orchards, cared for animals, did DIY projects, and hosted community events.

To give a closer insight into who we are, Igor loves literature, film, music, and art; he loves biking and hiking. Overall, he is concerned about how we think about and deal with animals, from our eating habits to environmental protection.
Matilde loves nature, plants and animals, music, art, long walks, hiking, visiting small villages and artisan, crafts and flea markets. She's really interested in learning how to be more sustainable.

We are both responsible, focused, open-minded, and always eager to expand our experience beyond our comfort zone.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

We have done gardening/farming chores and DIY projects, and these are activities we are always cheerful to assist with. We try to be fast learners, to provide a valuable help, especially in tasks where we do not have much experience. We can also cook and assist in cleaning and domestic duties.

We consider ourselves patient, respectful, resilient, enthusiastic, communicative, cooperative, and hardworking.
We can also help with the Portuguese, English, Italian or Spanish language whenever there’s an interest in it :)
