Hi to you all,
I'm Heidi, a 49-year old single mum of 3 kids (2 biological and 1 adopted), and I live in a small village in the center of Belgium.
Now that my children are growing older and more independent, I slowly start to break free again and try to step out of my comfortzone more and more. My climb to Kilimanjaro in september'21 was the start of a brand new chapter in my life and since then I look at life differently. Let's call it a true life changing experience!
I studied Tourism, with the idea to leave Belgium one day, but it never happened....still "work in progress" though!
I always liked to travel but knowing what I know now....I was not really travelling in the past, I was just "visiting" countries and not really experiencing them.
I guess that this is the main reason for joining Workaway: to change my horizon, to be more open-minded, to learn about different cultures, to meet inspiring people, to develop myself constantly, to enjoy long and interesting philosophical talks, to share intense moments and to keep learning new things/skills/languages!
My field of interest is rather big and I am also very open to try out some new sports and adventurous activities.
I am not always very convinced of my own skills and I underestimate myself quite a lot, but I truly believe that I have a lot to share. Once you reach me your hand, open up your heart to me and you are able to make me feel comfortable.....we can surely mean something valuable for each other.
POI:
Mid of September I will challenge myself during my very first Solo biketrip from my hometown (BE) to Basel (CH) passing through the Belgian Ardennes, South of Luxemburg, Elzas/Alsace,...
Anyone around me is more than welcome to catch up 🚲, to host me to pitch my tent for the night ⛺or nearby Vanlifers who let me share a spot in their van🚙
Looking forward to meet you ❤

Quelles sont vos compétences ?
In my daily life I am a dedicated, loving and carying mum/woman who can give a lot of attention to people, animals, plants and pets (I have 4 cats and I grew up with three dogs)
I guess I can also be a great companion for someone who feels lonely from time to time and just doesn't like to be the only person in a room.
In my professional life I have been a Salesperson in Fashion for most of the time! I always liked the personal contact with my clients and I am a real master in dealing with "after-sales" issues and Customer Service.
I really love organising stuff, cleaning cupboards, daily housekeeping tasks, ironing, taking care of animals and pets, driving around in my car as Taxi-mum.
For my own familiy I really like to cook and try out new recepies but cooking for some one else always makes me quite nervous. It is definitely something I want to work on. I am truly interested in learning how to cook more various vegetarian meals and to be more knowledged about the use of spices.
I am also a real "baby-lover" and open for childcare as well, but with a preference for the very little ones.
In terms of gardening I am a motivated beginner and experimenter. Last year I tried growing some vegetables for the first time but as we don't have a garden of our own, I needed to be creative and I managed to create some "gardens in the wild" on community ground. It was challenging but finally I had some tomatoes, potatoes, carrots, cucumbers, salads and jalapenos.
I am definitely eager to learn more about perma-culture and to assist you at gardening.
My hands are already aching to give you some support!Âge
