Description
We can't deny - the Workaway experience will be a very new experience for us. However, it is an exciting opportunity.
My wife and I are a responsible, kind, gentle, respectful 50 year 'young' Australian couple.
We both work in the education field (Guy - teacher; Angela - teachers assistant) and I have previous experience working in the Australian military. Our daughter, Milly, is 15, and is a wonderful young woman: she loves women's football, reading, is a beautiful dancer, and is magnificent with young children. Milly's best friend is Finnish, and our entire Europe trip is designed to end up in Helsinki for her to have a week staying with her friend. Milly has an interest in learning German language.
We are a good, honest family.
We also have two young adult sons (22 and 21 years old) who are studying and working back in Australia.
We are having 2.5 years of working internationally so that we can undertake some European travel - travel from Australia is not always easy. I teach 10 year-old students at an American international school in Dubai and my wonderful wife, Ange, is a teachers assistant supporting a little boy who needs extra support with his learning. Back in Australia, I am a Physical Education teacher and love teaching kids sports and physical movement.
In Australia, we own a beautiful home, with a lovingly developed native plant garden, and are house proud people. We also had chickens for many years and believe they are marvelous animals!
We understand how important your home is for you, and any help we can give you, at your home, will be done with respect and genuine care.
I am a hardworking person and capable at physical labour. I've done a lot of physical labour over my lifetime. I'm not so good at precision DIY - sorry - but if you need wood chopped, soil moved, gardens planted or dug up, rocks moved, weeds pulled, lawns mowed, gutters cleaned etc., then I am very helpful for you. I am great with kids. Personally, I love drinking tea, reading books, learning about history, having wide-ranging conversations, and playing sport.
Traveling together is a significant joy and achievement for Ange, Milly and I. Ange and I have worked diligently to raise our sons, and this opportunity to travel, and now immerse ourselves within a European town, and to meet wonderful people, will be a bonus for us.

Our daughter, Milly, would love to learn German. She uses Duolingo however, learning real German would be wonderful for her. -

Quelles sont vos compétences ?
Guy - As a teacher, and especially as a Physical Education teacher, I enjoy ineracting with children and happy to play games and teach English.
I am also extremely good at manual labour - I have done a lot of manual labour over my life. I don't have any specific handyman skills to build or construct things- sorry! - but I can demolish things, cut firewood (with a splitter or a chainsaw), stow firewood, move rocks, do anything in the garden (we have a beautiful garden at our home in Australia), clean gutters, mow lawns ........ anything manual.
I can also cook some great vegetarian meals, and bake a good cake, too!
Ange - is a gentle soul and would keep me company with most tasks I do but will not undertake many manual tasks. I can explain more about this if we communicate further. Ange can prepare meals, and help with general house chores.
Milly - although 15, Milly is marvelous with children. We have many friends with younger children, and she spends a lot of time with those children, and our friends agree that Milly is amazing with younger children. She is patient and good fun.
All three of us are house-proud. We are respectful people. We are clean and tidy. We are interested in other people and see Workaway as a way for us to integrate into a different culture. -

We are a nature loving family - sustainability, a high environmental ethic, and spending time around nature, is important to us.
Guy is an avid amateur gardener.
Guy and Milly are avid amateur carers of pet chickens.
We all love to read - and Milly and Guy enjoy exploring second hand books shops.
Ange is a great second hand clothes shopper - she has found some wonderful bargains over the years.
Ange and Guy are keen beginner backgammon players.
We are all active in our own way.
Guy and Milly love sports - watching and playing.
We traveled Budapest, Munich, and Vienna, by train, spring 2025 and Sri Lanka summer 2025. Travel is expensive and difficult to do from Australia. And, due to the Middle East regional conflict, our spring 2026 Europe plans were cancelled, so our European travel time this summer is very important to us. -
