I live on La Palma, Canary Islands with a huge garden. I'm currently getting help in the garden from a workawayer. So I am host and a workawayer and know both sides.

Description

Hello, my name is Evelyn, I am in my sixties but young at heart ;-). Originally from Germany, I now live on La Palma, Canaries. My three children have flown the nest and live in Germany and Portugal.
After a fulfilled work life in nursing, teaching, and management, I took early retirement in order to dedicate my time and energy to activities that are of special concern for me.
I have always had a passion for broadening my horizon by exploring new territory and getting to know new cultures. For example I was an au-pair in Florida, worked as a volunteer in Kenia and Nepal for a month, as well as in Tanzania for three months in a hospital, orphanage and as a teacher for English and nursing. I have also done three house & pet sittings and over 50 home exchanges worldwide. In my former job as an auditor in health care I was also travelling the world. So I have gained a fair understanding for different cultures, traditions and religions.
Now I am eager to come to know new countries, meet nice people, learn new things and share my knowledge.
I try to live an eco conscious life close to nature and animals, love to cook good, healthy food, also vegetarian and vegan. My hobbies are eco gardening, sports (yoga, hiking, up-hill skiing, sailing) music, reading, crafts work... I am an open minded person, always good for laugh and interested to get a challenge to explore new walks of life but also live my passion with children, animals and nature.
