Description

Gabe McGee :
I'm currently employed full time on a regenerative mixed agroforestry farm in Asheville, North Carolina. I work with cattle, pigs, sheep and chickens. I have extensive work experience with farming, carpentry, construction, metal fabrication and landscaping.
I'm a thorough enjoyer of early mornings, love to work with my hands, and am always looking to adapt and apply myself in new ways!
I also have extensive experience running outdoor education programs. I am an avid photographer(film and digital) looking to capture new moments in new places. I also have experience in mixed media and social media content production. I'm passionate about surfing, playing music, snowboarding, backpacking, yoga, making art, metalsmithing, and exploring the natural world.
Gabriel and I have spent multiple summers in central and South America, contributing at workaways and sharing cultural experiences. We are experienced travelers, and open minded avid learners. I speak English and semi-fluent Spanish.



Hey there, I'm Gabriel! Yes, there are two of us haha.

A bit about me:
I'm a multi-faceted person with skills that range from audio production to gardening to painting as well as cooking/menu planning. I'm currently working as a monitor engineer and stagehand at multiple music venues including "The Orange Peel" and "Hellbender", both located in Asheville, N.C..

I'm familiar with the principles and application of French classical cuisine, and have spent years cooking Spanish and Cuban food (I can probably turn whichever ingredients you have into a fantastic meal for everyone to enjoy!).
I grew up in a Spanish speaking house, and am fully fluent in English, Spanish, and Catalan! I really get excited to be in places where I can use the languages I know and have the opportunity to learn new ones.

What I hope to contribute to a Workaway community:
I think everything I do from producing music to tending a garden stems from my passion for fulfilling a vision. Finding something which is already beautiful and helping to nurture it to its full expression. I think this is also why my work ethic is consistent and high quality and why I am always excited to learn more. I don't need a spotlight, just something I care deeply about. I hope to contribute a lively and exciting energy that helps to encourage laughter, heart-felt conversation and a sense of community.
I think that the skills I have are ideal for workaway hosts looking for help with organizing musical/community events, garden management, house or mural painting, landscaping, mosaic/tile work, or hospitality/communication with guests. I have learned minor carpentry skills through experiences with past workaways and I’m ready to learn more. I’m comfortable with using skill saws, table saws, band saws and cutting basic joineries.

What I look for in a Workaway host:
All I ask for is clear communication of your goals and expectations. I think things can sometimes become unnecessarily awkward when the work-trade isn’t clearly communicated. I think my best workaway experiences have been because the host(s) was communicative from the first day, but also knew when to allow for the Workawayers to add their own personality and creative touch to projects!

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

Gabe McGee - I work at a sustainable farm in Asheville, NC, working with cattle pigs sheep and chickens, I work doing carpentry, metal fabrication, and maintaining facilities. I have experience with working customer service, outdoor leadership, and experience as a personal trainer. I have experience with photography, editing, and some cinematography. I am fluent in english and semi fluent in spanish.

Gabriel Coll-Bettencourt - I speak English, Spanish, and Catalan fluently. I can help with translation/communication needs. I am a multi-faceted artist, having done oil-painting, house painting all the way to small scale murals. I'm primarily a working musician and study music production so I can be a useful asset in any music recording, writing or producing needs. I have experience with woodworking, gardening, handling chickens, composting, making spaces ready for gardening and harvesting.
