Hi! My name is Amber, nice to meet you. :)

I am a fun loving Canadian who is motivated by helping others. I especially love working with children (I also can provide background checks and have a valid First Aid + CPR). I love being around people, learning new skills, travelling, exploring cultures from around the world, giving back to communities. I am passionate about writing, fashion, design, reading, gardening, cooking, baking, and arts and crafts.

In my spare time you will find me working on my new business - a size inclusive swimwear line, whipping something fun and fresh up in the kitchen, being in nature, writing my book, or in the art room working on my latest project. I've recently fallen in love with watercolor paintings and I'm working on a series of postcards to send to family and friends. The art room is my happy place and I love to teach arts and crafts to children and adults.

I am an extroverted introvert. I love being around people, but I definitely need my time to recharge. At present, I would like to find a remote work exchange in Canada… Preferably BC. Ideally mid Sept - end of Dec but I can be flexible with those dates. I would like to stay a minimum of one month to really ensure I’m getting an immersed experience and that gives me more time to really help you out an in-depth level. In my spare time (outside of volunteering hours), my goal is to focus on writing / editing my book.

In terms of help, I am open to childcare, cooking, baking, helping with light household chores, supporting with creative projects, or helping you with Social Media Management. I actually have a business (www.thewritechoice.ca) that specializes in copywriting, branding, and social media management. My primary focus is Instagram, but I’m happy to work with Facebook or LinkedIn as well… I’m just not as well-versed. I also love shooting, editing, and creating fun videos and will be happy to help you do so for your personal or business needs.

I’m a creative at heart, but I definitely have an A-type personality. So basically, I’m super organized, value, efficiency, excel at creating systems, and I’m always 15 minutes early to everything haha.

I had a previous WorkAway experience in Kenya in 2024 and earlier this year (went back to the same place). It was an amazing time and I am still very close to everyone I met in Kenya, they are like a second family to me. My overall experience with Work away has been wonderful and I would love that to continue. :)

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

My skills include teaching (although not a professional), arts and crafts, gardening, writing, and working with children.

I enjoy teaching people of all ages, but especially young children. I previously worked as nanny and have over 20 years of experience in childcare ranging from children aged 4 months - 13 years old. I love being around young people and watching their spirits grow with delight as they learn something new from me every day.

The art room is my happy place. I was introduced to Art Therapy years ago and I have fallen in love with it. I am passionate about expressing oneself through art and believe that we can heal our souls through art therapy. Art is a beautiful gift that can bring a smile to one's face and I look forward to smiling together. :)

I made the decision to get sober six years ago and gardening became a big part of my recovery. Gardening is a gift and I am grateful to be one with nature. I believe that gardening is good for the mind, body, and soul. The nourishing food, beautiful flowers, and helpful herbs all help to nourish the soul. I would love to learn about your agriculture and help your garden grow!

I am a professional writer and studied Writing for TV, Film, and Video Games at Vancouver Film School. I am a successful grant writer and would love to help you with fundraising for your organization. I have crafty networking and marketing skills that could be applied to your project and I am also experienced with social media.

I look forward to becoming a part of your family and learning about your background. I would love to share some of my background with you too! I am a multi-cultural mix of Chinese, French, and Metis.

I do not drink alcohol, smoke, or use drugs. I have been sober for six years and my recovery is important to me. Sobriety is a way of life for me and I enjoy living a happy and healthy life.

If you have pets I would love to meet your furry family members! I am a lover of animals but unfortunately have allergies to cats and horses.

I like to stay active and enjoy walking and being outdoors. I love to play and have fun with a ball or play card games inside. Maybe we can play around of 'Go Fish' together! I'll be sure to pack a deck of cards with me. :)

I also have experience in film and tv. I have worked as an actress and producer and would love to help you make videos for your website and charity fundraisers. We could also upload them onto your social media channels and if you don't have social media, I can help to set you up!
