I’m Fran (26), and I’d describe myself as someone who’s never able to stay at one place for too long, I constantly search for new experiences and my thirst for knowledge is unquenchable! I’ve lived in 5 different countries so far and although I love being in unfamiliar environments with brand new faces there's some familiar things I can't live without like furry friends, sweets, great books & movies and nature ☺️ As I have lived in many places and travelled a lot I love talking about my experiences and hearing others’ stories! I adore walking in all types of environments, be it a tropical forest or a nighttime cityscape. I’m independent and reliable, even if my cooking skills need some honing. I studied philosophy at university and it’s one of my greatest passions and I’m always eager to both teach it and learn more, and apart from that I do have a wide range of other interests and I love being around people proficient in their own professions. I try and look after my body and am interested in alternative ways of living as many aspects of modern life and the life-path that I felt like was laid out for me are just not working for me. My favourite question is 'Why?' and it's the motivation behind all that I do, the curiosity that drives me to travel and have in-depth conversations and to expose myself to unfamiliar circumstances. I love to see into how people in different places live and hear their thoughts about life, love, morality, meaning and whatever else they are interested in sharing - I'm a great listener 😊

I'm Nika (26), I studied psychology and back home I work as a cognitive trainer. As I have students from all agegroups (from 5 to almost 70) I have experience working together not just with children but with adults and elderly too. As a university student I was babysitting children regularly, and I worked in a café too. Now It's my first time living abroad and I would love to see as many cities as I can and make the most out of it. I think workaway gives the perfect opportunity for that. The best part of it, that I can meet new people and new places - travelling is good but if you have the company for that, or local people who can give an interesting perspective, It's even more fun. Also, one of my goal is to improve my english skills. In my free time I really like to do yoga, to hike or just spend time with friends in cozy cafés.

Neither of us drinks or smokes and we are happy to adapt to and try out different diets and lifestyles. ☺️

We have worked in New Zealand as housekeepers, receptionists and waitresses, we have looked after animals and have general experience with manual labour and like to be occupied with things to do, feeling useful, and doing “odd tasks”. We were both scouts growing up, where we had experience with building fires and easy wood projects during camp and we love working outdoors! We also both have fond memories of helping our grandmothers in their gardens, Nika more with beautifying and aestethical maintenance and Fran more with vegetables and edible plants. I (Fran) have also helped out a few times at my father’s small vineyard during harvests. We are both interested in learning more about gardening and improving our skills 😊 The abundant nature and integrated wildlife in New Zealand has made both of us pay way more attention to our surroundings and I think at this point we know more about flora and fauna here than where we come from!

We are also big animal lovers, during our travels I (Fran) have been going a bit crazy by not having a furry comparing by my side, but tried to make do with the occasional dog sit or with the friendly sheep that we had at our previous job on the West Coast. We've also had a few days' experience at a large sheep farm near Masterton where we could get a glimpse into the everyday reality of running a farm and we found it very enlightening and rewarding.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

We are both reliable and capable of taking care of a household. We both have experience with being kitchenhands and housekeepers, so manual labour does not scare us! We love animals as well and have done pet sitting together a few months back. Nika is a great cook and Fran has recently started enjoying being a handyman. We learn and adopt quickly. We love having deep and analytical conversations that go on for hours. Nika has a lot of experience with kids.
