I am currently aspiring to do a 1-month Workaway in Ghana in spring 2026 and still looking for a travel buddy!

Description

Hello!
My name is Flora and I'm from a small town in the north of Germany.
I am currently doing my Master's in Political Science but whenever time allows it, I am exploring new countries with the help of Workaway ;)
In the past, I have lived and studied in England, Portugal, France and Germany, and been inspired by all the different cultures, languages, cuisines and lifestyles I got to experience during that time. Now I would like to get out of Europe more and connect with people from all over the world.

I enjoy keeping busy so you will find me cooking or baking, learning new languages (French, Portuguese, Dutch), doing yoga or dancing in my free time. I love to get involved and creative - be it in organising concerts, singing in my local choir, drawing or crocheting. :-)
In 2021/22, I did a voluntary service planting trees in a national park in Portugal which is where my appreciation for nature comes from. I am therefore very interested in nature-conservation projects. I have also worked in politics and women's empowerment for some time now and it is a topic that I am passionate about.
Other than that, I'm also interested in a sustainable lifestyle and try to eat vegan and as "zero waste" as possible.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

Since I have started my studies, I was constantly involved in event management projects. I have organised Portuguese concerts and film nights, political conferences about diversity and inclusion in German society, a fundraising event for the local homeless shelter and many other small-scale events for the students at my university. In my second year, a group of friends and I also set up a website that everyone on our campus could use to borrow things from others for free so that our belongings could be used more sustainably in our community. I have also worked in various front desks, for example at our local Unicef office and at a doctor's office so one of my best skills is staying organised, focused and friendly.

I love cooking and have worked in the kitchen and as a housekeeper in a hotel-I find that cleaning and tidying up can be quite relaxing and take your mind off of other things.

During my voluntary service in a Portuguese national park, I got used to working outside no matter what weather conditions. We were mainly pIanting trees, but I would also be interested in some gardening, especially growing vegetables or fruit, as I have done that during a work experience a few years ago and loved it!

I'm constantly improving my skills in different languages, I speak fluent German and English, quite a bit of French and I am also learning Portuguese and Dutch. I feel that languages open up a completely new world so I try to learn the basics in every place that I go to.

I am good at taking care of animals, I've had rabbits, a cat, dogs and I have done horse riding for a few years as well.

As you can see, I'm always looking for something new to try or to learn so if I haven't mentioned the skill you are looking for, chances might be that I am very enthusiastic to learn it. ;)

I am very passionate about politics and women's rights, which is why I am studying political science. One of my favourite subjects at university was critical theories, especially feminism and postcolonialism which taught us about non-Western ways to theorise about international relations and politics.
