Hi, we’re Kristine and Mark, a 49-year-old couple with a thirst for life. We met while working in Antarctica in our shared industries: automotive and heavy equipment.

I’ve enjoyed several WorkAway experiences over the years, and now Mark is joining me on new adventures. We are two peas in a pod, as the saying goes, and prefer life to be full of beauty and genuine connections with humans and nature alike. We love to learn and to travel.

We’re both easygoing and love to laugh. Though we’re both a bit reserved and quiet until you get us talking about a subject, we’re passionate about and then… well, you better pour another cup of tea, because we’re going to be here a while!

One of my greatest joys in life is being an aunt. I’m a foster, adopted, and biological aunt and will argue that I’m the best auntie in the world! I enjoy writing, nature, and travel (obviously).
Mark is passionate about music, books, and trail cycling. He’s impossibly British with a knack for fixing anything that needs fixing. He speaks some German.

We’re excited to use WorkAway as a way to enrich our experiences in other places and cultures because we want to do more than check off tourist sight lists.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

Between us, we bring a mix of practical repair skills, home and property care, creative work, and a willingness to learn. We’re happy to work together or take on different jobs according to our strengths.

• Mechanical work and repairs: Mark is a heavy equipment technician with experience in automotive repair, machinery maintenance, diagnostics, and equipment operation. He can also help with general property maintenance tasks.
• House and pet sitting: Kristine has many years of professional house and pet sitting experience. We can both help look after a home/homestead while you’re away.
• Home projects: Kristine enjoys painting walls, beautifying spaces, and even packing or unpacking for a move. She’s also a feng shui consultant and can offer ideas for spaces that aren’t working well. Mark enjoys repairs and practical projects around a property.
• Writing and computer help: We both enjoy writing and can help with written or administrative projects.
• Household help: We’re glad to pitch in with everyday household tasks. Mark can cook; Kristine cannot, but we both can clean and organize.
• Animal care: Kristine grew up around horses, chickens, cats, and a dairy cow. One of her regular house-sitting gigs was a sheep farm.
• Problem-solving: Mark is happiest figuring out why something stopped working. We’re both adaptable, independent, and comfortable taking on a new task.

We’d love to learn from our hosts, experience everyday life in new places and cultures, and share a few skills of our own along the way.
