Description
Hi, i'm Tanja, 35 years old from Germany. This summer i travel by train Up north and I Plan to stay for around 2 weeks (end of July- beginning of August) with a group of people in a camp in a rural area in the woods of Sweden. After that (or before) i'd Like to travel, but would Prefer to do a workaway and to give my time and strength to a project to learn and enjoy my time off in a different way :)

I am a very friendly and open-mindend person who ist happy to help and learn new stuff. I can be a hard-working and out-going person but on the other hand i need space and time on my own to fill up my (social) batteries. To relax i stay in nature, do a bit of bird-watching, read books or do some knitting. I'd Like to meet you and your family and (hopefully) pets and/or children. I am always looking for personal and natural connection. I am doing wilderness education which is a really nice thing - i can show you some usefull skills like making fire, crafting, educational- and fun games, using your senses, etc.
I love music and good books, Nature, hiking, bonefires, storytelling, playing (board-)Games. I Like many thinks you can do in or on water (kayaking, snorkeling, swimming, ice-bathing, etc.)

In my twenties i traveled a lot and did quite a few volunteering and workaways. Back then i mostly worked in hostels or guesthouses.

Now i prefer to stay with a couple or family host (hopefully with animals and/or children), either alone or with a few other workawayers. I would be happy to learn more about foreaging! Growing and harvesting your own food, taking care of and/or working with animals.

I really enjoyed staying & working at the Hostel with Brian and Blanca and their little son Miguel. I had a wonderful time, work was easy and we had a lot of time to enjoy the beautiful Peninsula. A really cosy and calm place to stay with easy tasks to do. In the end i would have liked to stay longer than the 2 weeks. But still it was the perfect place for me after traveling through South America to relax and help out with serving breakfast, cleaning rooms, walking the dogs etc. Thanks a lot to everyone i met. I came to stay for almost the whole summer season for 7 weeks in July and August here. From the very first moment on, Lesley and Alan gave me the feeling of being welcomed and they were taking care of me and the other volunteers as much as it was possible for them. I loved staying and working with the whole Bunney family, especially when Becs &… read more her sons Josh and Jamie arrived. And I want to thank you all for making my stay so beautiful!

For the next volunteers: If you would like to live and work with an absolutely lovely family, this will be the very best place. The place itself is magically and it will catch you right away when you see it the first time.
The work is not hard and never boring, because the tasks are so many-sided. But please, be as hard-working as you can, Lesley and the others will need your help, particularly during summer-season while guests stay. Lesley will warn you about Saturday change overs – yes of course, you have to be as quick and as clean (lavender, lavender, lavender!) as you can but you will also enjoy the work and above all you’ll love the feeling when it’s done! You’ll do things like taking care of the pool, doing gardening, helping Lesley in the house or with the shopping, taking care of the animals and the fairy glade and many more things. You will also have space to give new ideas to Lesley for changing this place and to make it even better and prettier. One of my favourite tasks was working at Crepes nights every Sunday. We provided a range of different homemade Crepes for the guests and the volunteers did the service. We always had lots of fun and we always ended up having many Crepes by ourselves ;)
Living together with other volunteers will be easy. You have your own space in one of the little caravans. Also you have a shared space with bathroom, kitchen and living room, which you can arrange in the way you like it. I loved our shared place “the bureau”, because like this the volunteers spent time together; we cooked, watched films etc.
Apart from work you will also have enough free time to explore the beautiful Peninsula of Crozon and the surrounding. The family will help you to go to and to come back from the surrounded places (regarding the poorly bus time-table).
You can do walks, visit the little towns and linger over all the markets. You can enjoy the beaches, the concerts in the streets or you can try out lots of different water sports! (If Becs will be there, ask her to do some body boarding with you!)
What to add? Oh yes, the food Lesley cooks is absolutely incredible! You are going to have many culinary delights during your stay!

To cut a long story short: All I can say is, that I enjoyed my whole stay and all my expectations were more than exceeded. Thank you Lesley and Alan, Becs and the boys for being so kind and making me feel at home every single day. I miss all of you already and I hope you are having a lovely time here in the future! I also want to thank all of the other volunteers I met (Alexa, Monica, Hannah, Will, Sabrina and all the others!!), it was a pleasure to meet all of you! See you soon, Tanja from Germany

I stayed 2 weeks with Rob & Lesley in their beautiful little Motel settled in front of Loch Borralan (which is not even listed in every map!) in the middle of nowhere close to Ullapool.
