Hello! We are Erika and Michael, from Portugal and the UK. We are both 26 years old. We are really excited to be traveling to Latin America this Winter. We are looking to spend some time doing workaways to meet new like-minded people and to make unforgettable memories. We are open to new experiences and are not afraid to get our hands dirty :) We are a positive, pro active and perseverant couple who truly enjoys sharing good times and take on new challenges.

Hola! Somos Erika y Michael, de Portugal y Reino Unido. Ambos tenemos 26 años. Estamos muy entusiamados de viajar por América Latina este invierno. Buscamos pasar algún tiempo haciendo workaways para conocer nuevas personas con ideas semejantes a nosotros y crear recuerdos inolvidables. Estamos abiertos a nuevas experiencias y no tenemos miedo de ensuciarnos las manos :) Somos una pareja positiva, pro activa y perseverante que nos gustan compartir buenos momentos y aceptar nuevos desafios.

When I lived in the Peruvian Amazon, I was involved in many projects with the Harakmbut and Shipibo communities by helping them with their food production (following permaculture principles), feeding chickens and fishes, and building Malocas and irrigation systems. I was equally involved with the reforestation interventions in Shintuya (Madre de Dios, Peru) by sowing and planting native trees. But most importantly, by observing and interacting with the Pachamama (Mother Earth), I learnt how humbling it is to intentionally create harmony between nature and human activities.

Cooking is another source of endless pleasure as it promotes a phenomenal interaction between human relationships and nature itself. Yes - I love cooking and eating delicious meals!


- Michael

I have experience in groundwork and construction and also grew up next to a small working farm so I have an introductory level of knowledge to some western farming practices. I would like to combine these skills with permaculture farming practices to better understand how we as humans can gather what we need from the land without jeopardising ecological stability.

Just like Erika, I love to cook and really enjoy using and combining new ingredients to make delicious meals if possible!

Cuando viví en la Amazonía Peruana, participé en muchos eco-proyectos con las comunidades Harakmbut y Shipibo ayudándolas con su producción de alimentos (siguiendo los principios de permacultura), alimentando pollos y peces, y construyendo Malocas y sistemas de riego. Igualmento ajudé con intervenciones de reforestación en Shintuya (Madre de Dios, Perú) sembrando y plantando árboles nativas. Pero lo más importante fue cuando uno observa e interactua con la Pachamama (Madre Tierra), uno aprende lo cuanto humillante (pero gratificante!) que es intentar crear armonía entre la naturaleza y las actividades humanas.

Para mi, cocinar es otra fuente de placer sin fin, ya que promueve una interacción fenomenal entre las relaciones humanas y la naturaleza. Sí, ¡me encanta cocinar y comer comidas deliciosas!


- Michael

Tengo experiencia en trabajos preliminares de fundaciones y construcción y también crecí junto a una pequeña granja, por lo que tengo un nivel introductorio a algunas prácticas agrícolas occidentales. Me gustaría combinar estas habilidades con las prácticas agrícolas de permacultura para comprender mejor cómo nosotros, como humanos, podemos recolectar lo que necesitamos de la tierra sin poner en peligro la estabilidad ecológica.

¡Al igual que Erika, me encanta cocinar y realmente disfruto quando uso y combino nuevos ingredientes para hacer comidas deliciosas!

  Yes, Michael is allergic to cats and some dogs. As long as he has a nearby place to wash his hands, it's okay. He always plays with these animals despite his allergies.
