Hello, I'm Erik! I'm 22, from Texas and currently traveling in South Asia. After graduating from college in early 2026, I decided to spend a year around the world learning from other people's cultures, skills and life philosophies. I'm particularly interested in learning agriculture/sustainable farming as this area is crucial to any society's function.

Sustainable farming in particular is often undervalued in mainstream US agriculture. In some ways, by getting experience in agriculture abroad, I hope to bring some of this knowledge back home and help rekindle people's relationship with the land.

I have had two Workaway experiences so far. The first was at an animal sanctuary in the Canary Islands working with a small team to take care of hundreds of animals including donkeys, goats, sheep, dogs, cats, birds, ducks, chickens, hedgehogs, guinea pigs and more. The second is a tea farm in Ilam, Nepal (which I am currently at!) where I have so far learned how to pick and process tea along with planting seeds in garden beds and harvesting Iskus. I also did brief volunteering in Cambodia with an NGO school teaching English to children who couldn't afford public school.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

My main skills are as follows:
- Animal care: I have experience working with most types of land animals and feel comfortable doing so.
- Farming: While my skills in agriculture are still growing, I have so far learned how to pick tea, form garden rows, plant seeds and harvest vegetables.
- Teaching English: Language exchange has been one of my favorite parts of traveling. I'm happy to teach and just as happy to learn. In Cambodia, I got the chance to volunteer at an NGO teaching English to children.
- Cooking: I enjoy cooking food from all cuisines and am always happy to help in the kitchen (especially if it means learning a local dish or two)!
- Cleaning: I keep my own space tidy and will gladly help in cleaning communal areas too.
- Computer help: I'm willing to help with any computer related issues. My education is in Computer Science so this is no problem!

The main area I'm hoping to develop in the next few months is farming, but I am also very interested in building projects, which I currently have no hands-on knowledge of. If you're willing to teach me these things, then I'm willing to learn :)
