Hello! my name is Emma. I'm a 25-year-old woman from Finland. I'm an experienced traveler and will graduate from university this spring. I'm a very social person and love to meet new people around the world. I am easygoing and have been told many times that I'm very easy to get along with. Now on the verge of graduating, I am more eager than ever to see the world and get to know new cultures. Visiting Australia for a longer period has always been on my bucket list, and now it is finally coming true. I and my workaday partner Elsa figured that the best way to save money and actually see more of what life is like in Australia is to experience it through Workaway. In my free time I enjoy exercising and spending time in nature. In Finland during the summer this means running, swimming, and sailing. During the winter, my favorite hobby is definitely snowboarding. That is why I am confident that I will definitely catch some waves and start my surfing journey properly here.

Hey there! I’m Elsa, almost a 26-year-old business student from Finland, now looking for an opportunity to explore Australia. I’m a social and easygoing person who loves yoga, hiking, cooking, and, of course, traveling. I’m a reliable and positive person with strong people skills and a hands-on mindset. Finnish is my mother tongue, and my English skills are excellent. In the spring of 2025, I was on a university exchange in Peru, where I learned basic-level Spanish, and I’ve also studied Swedish for many years. I really enjoy connecting with people from different cultures and learning from one another. I also have a broad musical background, having played the violin for 12 years and now being the singer and musical director of our university's house band. I love all animals and have taken care of dogs, bunnies, guinea pigs, and my sister’s crested gecko.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

-Emma: I am proactive, diligent, and creative when it comes to working. My university studies in Finland are related to business. Especially around marketing, international business, and management. I actually just finished a study abroad semester in Taiwan, where I was fortunate enough to immerse myself in the language of Mandarin Chinese a bit. Languages I speak fluently are Finnish and English. I can also hold up small conversations in Swedish if necessary. So my study background gives me good language fluency and also brings me business-minded thinking when necessary. Other than that, I am a very sporty and outdoorsy person. I have also taught young kids aged 6-12 track and field during my young adulthood, so I'm used to getting along with kids and playing with them. Other than that, I have also done a lot of customer service jobs, which has helped me to understand even better how to get along with people with various personalities and backgrounds. I have, for example, worked in a lot of fairs as a promoter, sandwich shop, and clothing store. During my free time, as mentioned back at home, I am practicing sailing during the summers and have gotten used to the outdoorsy environment through living in our cottage. I can also, of course, do basic tasks related to cooking and cleaning. I am the biggest dog lover, so I'm happy to help with anything related to that. I have experience with our family dog, which is a 15-year-old Bichon Havanese dog.

-Elsa:I have extensive experience with children: I taught for six years at a track and field school for kids and worked as an au pair in Los Angeles, which helped me become patient, organized, and always ready to come up with fun activities. In addition, I’ve worked in sales and customer service for many years, so I’m good at staying flexible and solving problems on the fly. My guilty pleasure is Italian cuisine, but I also know many recipes for healthy, vegetarian meals. Clean, organized spaces are important to me, and I’m happy to put in the hands-on work needed for a shiny result. I’m also happy working outdoors. My childhood home is in the middle of the forest and has a huge yard, so I'm more than familiar with things like mowing the lawn, gardening, washing cars, and general maintenance. I work well independently, learn quickly, and always try to help where I’m needed most.

Back at home we are best friends and have known each other for over ten years. So there is nothing that can surprise us about each other at this point. Together we are a dynamic duo with a wide skillset related to a lot of different topics and industries. We are looking forward to meeting you guys and are open to any questions you might have. Overall we are the perfect choice for you as a workaway partner because we bring a very warm vibe and some funny stories from our previous travels.
