  • Description

Hello! My name is Emily, and I am a 22-year-old recent university graduate. I attended the University of California, Berkeley, and received a degree in political science and public policy. I am now taking some time to travel and learn more about what inspires me and what kind of work I want to contribute to for my career. My happy place is in nature, whether that be mountains or the ocean. I love to rock climb, sail, hike, surf, and really anything else that gets me outside. I also love to read, explore new recipes for cooking and baking, do yoga, and plan events/trips. I look forward to finding work that helps me share my love for the outdoors and use my strategic planning skills.

  • Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I have my bachelor's degree in Political Science and Public Policy from the University of California, Berkeley. I focused on environmental policy, international politics, and education policy. I have done a lot of work on the intersection of food waste and food insecurity, as well as on how representation affects local policy outcomes. I hope to get my master's degree in public policy or business. I have hands-on experience in nonprofit development, research, project management, youth coaching, event + trips planning, and leadership. Through my work with Move For Hunger, I’ve supported donor outreach, built partnerships, and contributed to fundraising campaigns that increased engagement and impact. As Co-President of Cal Climbing, I led a large, dynamic team, organizing trips, events, and outreach initiatives that foster community and inclusion, while also managing logistics and partnerships. My background also includes sustainability consulting, food justice work, and research with UC Berkeley’s Dean’s Office, where I analyzed data to inform curriculum development. I have also worked at a yoga studio for 4 years, and a climbing gym for 3 years, where I worked at the front desk and led kids camps/training programs. I also helped lead my university sailing team for 2 years and coordinate safety on the water. Across roles, from coordinating food distribution programs to coaching a youth climbing team and managing events, I’ve developed strong skills in project management, communication, media, and problem-solving. I’m passionate about meaningful, hands-on work that connects me with new communities, supports environmental and social impact, and allows me to contribute wherever I go. I have volunteered through WWOOF and through connections with friends who set me up with host families who needed help around their property. I have worked on farms with livestock and crops. I have worked to make a tile mural on a beautiful deck, cleaned kitchens, and made food, taught yoga classes and climbing clinics, taken kids sailing, babysat, and much more. I am comfortable learning fast and being thrown into new situations; in fact, I thrive this way. I bring a host of outdoor skills and knowledge, cooking and baking experience, administrative and strategic planning experience, and program building experience that I can't wait to use!

  • Autres infos...

I was lucky enough to grow up in a family that was able to travel, whether that be setting the goal of visiting every national park in the United States, backpacking in New Zealand, driving across Italy, or sailing in the Caribbean. As I got older, I fell in love with solo travel and the connections and exploration it allows for. I have traveled to 24 different countries, 15 of them solo, and most of them during my time studying abroad in 2024. I have learned so much and want to continue traveling slowly and learning with intention. I thrive in new environments and have a very bubbly and happy personality. I hope to meet people who expose me to new ways of living, and I hope I can help impassion people and bring adventure into everyone's life!
