  • Description

    Hello!

Seeing new places and meeting new people from different cultures has been a big part of my life ever since I undertook my first big solo trip to Australia for my gap year back in 2009. Since then, I've been travelling whenever I had the time and money to do so! I've climbed Kilimanjaro, and visited some amazing places in Africa. In 2014, I cycled independently from Lincoln to Athens, travelling through France, Switzerland, Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia Herzegovina, Albania, and Greece. I met many great people on that trip :)

Interspersed throughout these travels have been visits to several countries throughout the world. However, my favourite country, and the one I've visited the most, is France. I love the French culture, and especially the food! My resolution for this year is to really improve my French and I believe the best way to do so is to fully immerse myself in French culture! I believe workaway provides an amazing opportunity to do so, whilst learning new skills and meeting new people.

I will be moving to London in September 2023 to commence the final stage of my legal studies. I have been a student for close to a decade having originally completed undergraduate and graduate studies in History. However, throughout this time, I have held plenty of jobs in hospitality, farm-working, house and pet sitting, customer services, manufacturing, tutoring and teaching, as well as a host of other positions.

All these experiences provided me with a plethora of transferable skills that I will be able to implement, along with my positive and hardworking attitude, into any role :)

  • Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I have gained considerable experience in a range of industries whilst working along my studies.

For several summers I worked on farms around Lincolnshire, working in fields and orchards, on potato riddlers, and in seed treatment plants. In these roles, I showed that I am happy working long hours, and proved myself to be a dedicated team member.

I have extensive experience in the hospitality sector; most notably, I worked as a waiter in the members area of the Sydney Football Stadium during my gap year. In this role, I had to be professional, timely, and deliver a high-quality service to guests.

As a PhD student, I was a supervisor and tutor to several classes of students. This required me to be organised, particularly when planning and delivering seminars. In addition, I had to demonstrate a close attention to detail when marking and assessing students' work.

I have also worked in customer services, which allowed me to develop my problem-solving skills, and communication skills.

Whilst a student at University, I was a member of the bee-keeping society, and passed two courses on bee-keeping. In addition, I was a member of the allotment society, which meant I played a role in maintaining my College's allotment and greenhouses.
