I am Diana from Hungary.
I have lived in 8 countries so far: Hungary, Finland, Ireland, England, Japan, Turkey, Morocco, and Germany.
I'm a jack of all trades. I worked as an Au-Pair, babysitter, waitress, factory worker, shop assistant, hotel staff, event coordinator, cleaner, customer service representative, IT project manager, account manager, marketing assistant, a teacher in a language school and university.
I've been working as a travel blogger for 2 years and this travel blog is my biggest passion.
My other hobbies are traveling, photography, videography, organizing activities, learning languages, cooking, and doing sports like skiing, biking, hiking, and swimming.
I speak English, Hungarian, Finnish, German Japanese, Turkish, and a bit of Moroccan Arabic.
I like the idea of Workaway because I find it a really amazing way to blend in the local culture and learn about other cultures from people living in different parts of the world. Moreover, I just simply love the idea of exchange for doing some work in exchange for accommodation and meals.

We had Diana in our Hostel for almost two weeks in June and we had a great time together!

I spent two weeks in the hostel. It was an absolutely unique experience. You can be part of a family in a small village in the mountains. It's amazing that this volunteering experience made it possible. This is the kind of voluntary experience you want to be part of. I helped with breakfast and dinner. The guests there are mostly coming with a… read more tour operator. Therefore, the breakfasts and dinners are based on their time schedule which is always the same. I mostly woke up at 7 and started helping in the kitchen to prepare breakfast right away. The breakfast for the guests started at 7:30. After the guests are done with breakfast which is like half an hour later, we clean the tables and wash the dishes. Normally, we were done by 8:30 or 9:00 depending on the number of guests. This is pretty much what it is for the morning. Then, in the evening is dinner time. The guests come around 19:00. So I help with making tea for them and we start preparing the dinner around this time. I normally helped with peeling and cutting vegetables, and washing dishes while cooking. Then, around 21:00 the guests started the dinner and after dinner, we clean the tables and dishes.

In the kitchen, I always worked with Naima who is an amazing and kind person. You can learn a lot from her, like making traditional Moroccan dishes or Berber language. There are also boys in the family working in the hostel. We worked together quite a lot and it was pretty good.

While cooking it was a great time to practice languages, like Berber, English or German. I learned a lot of words in Berber for sure.

In the evening before dinner, someone from the hostel takes the guests for a walk in the valley. I could also join them when I wanted.

As you can see, you have pretty much the whole day free. Once, Walid took me to hike to Monkey's fingers. Then the rest of the days I explored the region. You can easily go everywhere from there with local buses or grand taxis. I found it an absolutely fantastic experience to learn to travel like the locals in the mountains. I went to the Todra Gorge, Tinghrir, the zig zag road close to Tamellalt on my own several times. I also spent a lot of time walking around in the mountains close to Tamellalt. You can meet a lot of nice local women while walking around.

Most importantly, you can learn so much by interacting with people from a different culture. That's what made this experience so exceptional. I'm very grateful for having the chance to volunteer in this cool hostel surrounded by beautiful scenery.
