Hi. Enquiring about your Workaway position.
I am a young and mostly fit 65 year old retired male, originally from Scotland but living in South East England.
I am well travelled but have hit a glitch on that front, at least temporarily, which has prompted me to look at Workaway options. The glitch being that my long term partner and travel companion has recently acquired a puppy (there’s a story there; it’s not quite as random as it sounds), which means we can’t go anywhere exciting for an indeterminate period of time! Or at least she can’t….. And I am currently trying to save joint preferred travels for when/if that situation changes, so currently looking for adventures that she wouldn’t be interested in (just been to the Isles of Scilly for a week and a Balearic island hop and Workaway as she doesn’t like being in small boats, for example).
I have a grand masterplan to spend at least part of the winter in warmer countries – we spent 7 ½ weeks motorhoming in New Zealand in Feb/March this year – and I have a two week slot in January available.
So I am looking for a Workaway position in Tenerife in January for a bit over two weeks – a tourist weekend at the start, a La Gomera weekend in the middle and a tourist weekend at the end, Workawaying during the two weeks.
I am a reasonable and creative handyman, but with no specific skills such as electrics, plumbing or woodwork. Having quite an old spine, consistent heavy duty projects would be out of my league but the smaller variety should be fine, as is gardening, which I do a lot at home. I can’t cook, but am very good at helping prep and washing up.
Ideally, I would be working in a location from where I could get a bus to/from an airport (or reasonably-priced local agent) to hire/return a car the first and last weekends, and get a bus to/from Los Cristianos for the ferry in the middle weekend.
If I sound like an acceptable candidate (please ask any other questions you have), how are you placed for bus routes as above and a two week Workaway in January?
