Reply rate: apologies for the reply rate, I've been travelling intermittently without internet! I will do my best to contact hosts asap.

I'm drawn to work that gets me outside and into the community, or anything where I can feel the results at the end the day. That feeling when you've been working physically all day and you fall in bed, bliss! I'm curious about sustainable living, working with nature, and finding practical ways to work with communities to learn how to build resilience in the face of change.
I love learning new things, especially hands-on skills where I can see what I've made or built. I tend to throw myself into the deep end!
People are a big part of why I travel. I'm interested in conversations that cross different backgrounds and worldviews, and I don't shy away from stepping into moral universes quite different from my own to find some common ground. I love writing about the people I meet, the places I pass through and the things they teach me.
And I believe strongly in the art of the sobremesa, the linger after a meal when the real conversation starts. Long lunches, working as a team, vino over dinner that's what brings me happiness.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

My background and skillset is very varied, because I'll give anything a go! I've worked in Antarctic research, emergency services, marketing, and held casual roles as a farm hand, garden labourer, public bus driver, and veterinary nurse. I'm most at home when I'm learning something practical, working as part of a team, and getting my hands dirty.

I'm comfortable with long days of physical labour and have experience operating and maintaining machinery including manual tractors, ride-on mowers, chainsaws, quad bikes, and diesel trucks with trailers. I've worked on a family sheep farm and as a garden labourer, and hold a heavy vehicle licence (I drove the night public bus in Melbourne). I'm an SSI-certified scuba diver and spend most of my free time outside either hiking, kayaking, climbing, and surfing.

I volunteered with the State Emergency Service and Disaster Relief Australia, supporting communities recovering from storms, floods, fires, and earthquakes. Practical work included clean-up operations, running emergency preparedness workshops for adults and primary school students, and providing emotional support. I also served as a Public Relations Officer, speaking directly with affected communities and creating content to raise funds and awareness.

Professionally, I've worked as a grant writer and marketing coordinator, most recently as a Proposal Development Manager in the Australian Antarctic Program at Monash University. I have strong skills in writing, editing, relationship management, and project coordination. I can turn complex technical information into clear, compelling content, I've worked with researchers across aerospace, chemistry, quantum science, robotics, and more.

I have some other experience in veterinary nursing mainly reception and administration, basic animal handling and procedures, and keeping nervous animals (and their owners) calm. I've also worked in customer service and as a call centre operator.

In my personal life I am passionate about all things outdoors. I enjoy scuba diving, kayaking, climbing, hiking, surfing and anything that gets me outside. When I'm home with my family, we enjoy getting together to work on the farm, or make passata, pasta and wine.
