Description
I am new to workaway I am English and was born just outside London.
I am a people person I have always loved meeting new people and hearing about their life. I embrace different cuisines and I enjoy cooking. My Mother was a chef when I was growing up. I really want to explore more of Italy especially Tuscany and its scenery, culture and of course food. I recently bought the Silver Spoon cookbook and hope to work my way through some of the delicious recipes. I have a close friend who has recently moved back to Livorno and I currently have 2 Italian flatmates in London who are so warm and lovely and I have watched them making so many delicious dishes!
I changed career from 20 years as a Textile Designer to working with children and I now work as a nursery assistant in a Montessori nursery. I absolutely love it and haven't looked back. It is so rewarding and I work with children of many different nationalities as it is in central London.
I have experience of working with older children as for 3 years while I was freelance and designing I was a part-time after school nanny for 3 girls that are now aged 5, 8 and 10. I see the girls regularly and we have a special bond. Examples of what we would do together are pottery painting, swimming at a lido in the summer, making smoothies and juices and they loved to make cool outfits from pieces of my old textile designs.
I would love to spend a month in the summer with a family with children that are curious and creative! Following their interests and introducing them to fun ideas I feel that it would be a wonderful experience. It would be great if the family could teach me some Italian.
In my spare time I could go and explore places that I haven't yet visited like Pisa and explore Florence more as I only spent a day there after I visited Livorno with my friend a couple of years ago. I would also like to visit Cinque Terre which sounds beautiful!
I have always enjoyed travel and new experiences. I lived in New York for 18 months in my early 20's which was amazing. Last year I went on a solo trip to Mallorca where I had daily tennis lessons at a tennis academy it was brilliant!

Quelles sont vos compétences ?
I am quite a good cook. I am really adaptable when working with children following their interests when we meet to make them feel safe and secure. I have a creative background so painting, drawing and arts and crafts I have great ideas for. I can use photoshop design computer design programme.
I enjoy sports I play tennis weekly and enjoy cycling in parks and on quiet roads so enjoy going swimming and doing other outdoor activities with children.
I am great at imaginative play and reading stories.
I am very responsible in my after school nanny role I would look after 3 girls that would all travel home from school on scooters. Of course safety working with children is priority and I have First aid training.
