Hello! My name is Charlie, and I am motivated first and foremost by my love of languages and culture, and am looking forward to studying French and German at university in the autumn of 2025.
What brings me happiness is activity and interaction; I like to feel that I am making a positive impact on the world through my work and I believe that the collective effort of humanity is the most powerful tool for making the world a better place.
I am looking for volunteering/paid work for the summer of 2025 in a French-speaking country where I can practice and be immersed in the language. You can always rely on me to be enthusiastic, diligent, and open to new experiences.

Languages are my central passion in life, as I enjoy every aspect of them from the grammar to the literature to the everyday interactions. I currently study French at A-level and am predicted an A-star for my exams in summer 2025. Furthermore, I am looking to study French and Beginners' German at Oxford University in the autumn, so would be very much interested in a French-language immersion to improve my fluency. I also study English Literature, and have a broad knowledge of the language and its grammar, so would be happy to teach or tutor. Last summer, I went on a language exchange to Belgium which was an eye-opening experience on both a cultural and linguistic level- I am looking for a similar experience in the French-speaking world.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I am a native English speaker from the UK, and have experience working with children given that I have often looked after my younger brother at home. Currently studying English Literature at A-level, I am a confident communicator and would be very interested in tutoring or babysitting work.
Looking to study French at university, I am predicted an A-star in my exams this summer, and can communicate competently in the language. Having gone on a linguistic and cultural exchange to Belgium in 2024, I have experience dealing with new environments and the problems that may arise from the language barrier.
In terms of physical labour, I have experience working on a conversation in Eswatini in 2023, and I enjoy running and hiking, so my stamina is up to the task!

In my free time, I like to read, listen to music, and play board games such as Ticket to Ride, Monopoly, Risk, and Pandemic.
I also play the cello and sing in several choirs as a Bass.
Nature is very important to me, and I find peace and solace in hiking, swimming, and climbing in the great outdoors.
That said, I love exploring vibrant cities and delving into their history and culture.
