Hey there, I’m Carina.
I‘m an adventurous and extroverted person who’s trying to gain as much experience as possible, get to know different people and their cultures, try new foods and learn new skills.

After finishing Highschool in Germany, I worked as an Aupair in Seattle, WA for a year (finishing in September 23) and spent my free time traveling the US. I’ve been to 15 different states as well as Canada and Mexico. I fell in love with the lifestyle and with doing solo trips but now i’m seeking a more meaningful and less touristy way of traveling.

I value nature and want to actively do my part in protecting our environment and every breathing thing that lives in it. I’m interested in sustainable living, practicing responsible consumption and participating in sustainability initiatives as well as raising awareness. I’m particularly passionate about the ocean and want to study marine biology or ecosystem sciences beginning in fall 2024.

Creating meaningful relationships and being part of a community brings me a lot of happiness. I enjoy being around people and having a positive impact on their life. I want to contribute to a better world, regarding society and environment!

I am a quick learner and never afraid to get my hands dirty. I would describe myself as a proactive person, so I am always happy to help out where I can! I think good communication is the key. I value constructive criticism and feedback and I am convinced everything can be solved over a respectful conversation.

I think volunteering is an awesome opportunity to authentically experience a new place and new people and I am open and excited for whatever the future holds.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I just spent 2 weeks in San José working at a hostel and being responsible for the reception, laundry and general cleaning and assisting guests and really enjoyed the work. I would love to gain more experience in hostels or hotels.

I volunteered on a Llama Farm in Wales for a month in summer 2021 via WWOOF and really enjoyed the work, living on a farm and being so warmly included in a family and their lifestyle. During my stay i worked with animals (llamas, pigs, dogs, chickens, cats, turkeys), i did weeding on the fields and some other tasks around the house like stone shoveling and building a new path as well as cooking and cleaning. We also did llama treks 3-4 times a week, leading walks, interacting with the customers and answering questions.

I’ve always been working with kids all kind of ages, wether it was babysitting, tutoring the lower grades in the after school care program during highschool or working as an Aupair in Seattle, WA and taking care of two kids (2 and 6 yo) 45h/week for a year.

I have experience in working with people with disabilities, creating and organizing a vacation program that is adapted to their individual needs and managing their care including hygiene and medication.

I worked as a waitress in a bavarian restaurant for 3 months, serving food as well as drinks.

I am really interested in journalism and writing in general and I’ve published several articles in a famous german newspaper. I also completed the online course “English for Journalism” offered by the University of Pennsylvania. Furthermore I am passionate about photography and love capturing moments and places, especially while traveling.

I am really active and enjoy going on runs, hiking, camping and doing water sports like surfing and diving. I also got into practicing yoga last year, working to not only stay physically healthy but to engage my mind, being present in the moment and improving my inner balance.
