Hello!

My name is Gabe and I come from the Yorkshire Dales in England.

I came to this site in search of adventure and with a thirst for travel, people and cultural exchange. I have been doing Workaways since the start of 2025 now and have gain a wealth of great experience, learnt many things and have met so many wonderful, warm and generous people across the world.

I had spent 10 years working in offices as a Web Developer before but always wanted to take the leap into doing something like this and it was the best decision I made!

So far I have:

- Looked after rescue animals - horses, donkeys, monkeys and dogs

- Worked on a farm

- Looked after children

- Helped manage a conservation project

- Worked at a cafe on a Hebridean island - baking cakes, makings soups and serving customers

- DIY, property management, painting and decorating

I had such a wonderful time at the sanctuary. Initially I had signed up for 2 weeks here but I ended up extending to 3. I met so many lovely people here from the staff to the other volunteers (people who selflessly give their time to looking after animals are usually very good and kind people).

To start with we were given a very generously sized apartment in a rural area near Wicklow town. The apartment had a kitchen, living room, 2 bedrooms, a bathroom and large windows overlooking fields and woodland. We were also given a good budget to do our own food shopping.
