Hello! We are Marie (29) and Loïc (34), a couple from Normandy, France, together for three years. We built our own house with the help of our family and friends, doing everything from plumbing and electricity to gardening, tiling, and painting. Now we are heading off on a new adventure: a one‑year working holiday in Australia!

My name is Marie, I have been a nurse for seven years. I worked in New Caledonia for two years in a remote tribal setting on Ouvéa Island. After returning to France, I gained experience working on ferries between France, England, and Ireland, as well as in hospitals. I later returned to university to become a paediatric nurse. This helped me develop a sharp eye and the skills needed to support children from birth to 18 years old. These days, I work in neonatal care, where I am deepening my knowledge of breastfeeding and newborn care.

Loïc is a pipefitter‑welder with 18 years of experience. He spent a year in New Zealand through Workaway, where he lived with a host family, and he also worked on a boat in Malaysia. These experiences abroad helped him adapt, get hands‑on, and become fluent in English.

We love travelling! We have explored many countries in Europe (France, Spain, Italy, Germany), as well as Mexico, Tanzania, Turkey, and many places in Asia. This has truly awakened our curiosity for new cultures. We also hit the road in our van “Gérard”, a restored Peugeot J9 that gives us freedom and independence.

We are big fans of music and concerts, and we love spending quality time with our family and friends. We value good vibes, environmental respect, and skill‑sharing. Helping others and being open‑minded are very important to us.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

Loïc loves hands-on work, whether it’s fitting out interiors or tinkering outdoors. He’s often the brains of the duo: planning, organising and coming up with the best hacks for every project.

I handle all the painting and decorating… I love endlessly learning new skills and techniques, and I’m not afraid to get my hands dirty. Plus, I’m a kid at heart: whenever there’s a family gathering, I dash off to play with the little ones.

We also adore animals, and whenever my twins sister needs us, we’re happy to look after her dog, Oneil, at our place. Walks, cuddles and good vibes are always on the agenda!

Marie grew up with chooks, guinea fowl, rabbits, guinea pigs and cats. And Loïc was raised with a dog.
