Hi! I’m Beatrice, a caring, gentle 23 year old with a deep love for animals and outdoor life.

I grew up in busy London, and ever since I was little have found myself looking for any opportunity to be surrounded by nature and four-legged friends. I’m happiest in places that feel genuine and wholesome, especially if there are animals there - I love getting to know their different personalities and ways of communicating, and there’s something really special to me about building trust and connection with them (especially rescues).
I really enjoy going on hikes and rock climbing in the mountains in Italy, which I've always done. Taking Chilli (my dog) for long walks there is my favourite thing to do, especially as there's always lots of time for exhausted cuddles after. I also enjoy photography, listening to music, tennis, cycling, exploring new places with my camera and disconnecting from screens and the internet.

I’m a friendly, dedicated, open-minded person who’s always happy to help wherever needed and eager to learn new things. I’ve found I have endless energy when working around animals, as it really never feels like “work” - whether it’s physical outdoor work, cleaning, daily routine tasks, or hands on animal care … I’m eager to do it!

I joined Workaway to look for a meaningful experience and somewhere I can settle into and contribute to, rather than pass through. Hopefully a place with a sense of community and purpose, where I can be around what makes me happiest: connection with people, animals and nature.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I’m open-minded, reliable and a quick learner, especially when I genuinely care about the spaces I’m in. I’m comfortable spending long periods outdoors in rural areas (I grew up spending months at a time in rural Italy). I enjoy physically active activities like hiking, rock climbing, cycling and prefer working hands-on rather than sitting still.

My experience with animals: I have lots of experience through caring for and training my own dog from a puppy (from feeding/ exercising to socialisation and understanding behaviour signs). I grew up caring for rabbits and have a calm, gentle energy with animals that need it. I’ve also spent time around horses from a younger age and have some experience with grooming, tacking up, leading and mucking out. I’m currently volunteering at a dog rescue foundation and learnt how to build up trust with reactive, nervous dogs.

Previous work: I’ve worked as a support worker for children with severe disabilities (some who were non-verbal). I have good emotional awareness and practiced giving them a sense of comfort and safety, and dealing with responsibility independently
I’ve also worked in hospitality, am good at communicating clearly and work well as part of a team.

I’m fluent in both English and Italian and travelling often between the two countries has made me adaptable and comfortable in different environments and around different people.

I’m eager to learn new skills and would especially like to improve on my gardening!

I love taking photos, music and journalling. I'm drawn to off-grid environments and shy away from loud cities.

I'd love to return to Uni and continue studying psychology in the next years - I'm interested in social and developmental psychology, mostly learning about why we act the way we do towards each other and the outside world. I'm also really interested in the bond you can form with animals and how healing that can be. I know it certainly has been for me :)
