Hi all! I am a science teacher on a sabbatical this year and looking to learn from and connect with local communities worldwide. I have been living and teaching outside of the US for 15 years now, and although traveling itself brings me joy, it's really getting to know and love a place and culture that brings true fulfillment. I hope to find that here!

I have a working vocabulary in Spanish, although I have not practiced in a very long time. It would be easiest to learn Spanish, Italian, or Portuguese. I also have some very basic Chinese and Russian from my time living in China and Ukraine.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

Love of nature: I grew up in the outdoors and love animals, (most) insects, and plants. As a science teacher specializing in biology, I am generally curious about the natural world and excited to get my hands dirty and learn more.

Communication: I excel at timely, clear, specific communication, both written and oral.

Creativity: I have the capacity to develop innovative ways to work with people (most experienced with young people!), as well as create plans (documents or slide decks).

Adaptability: I am flexible in the face of changing environments and challenges, and can use critical thinking to problem solve and overcome a variety of situations.

Technology: I can effectively utilize a variety of technologies or find something that can do the work efficiently.

Patience: I have worked half of my life with teenagers :)

Organization: I am able to manage time effectively and collaborate with a team of adults or children to complete a task to a high standard.

I have lived and taught in China, Ukraine, Lebanon, and most recently Turkey (Turkiye). I love the outdoors and being in nature, so any kind of hiking, cycling, camping, or adventure activities are exciting to me! I am entertaining the idea of a career change after teaching for 18 years, so this year will hopefully help me get some other ideas about where my passions lie. I have two amazing kitties who will continue to reside in Turkey this year in the care of friends and sitters.
