Hi there! I am Astrid, a brand new WorkAwayer :).

I'm from Belgium (the Flemish part). I love travel, art, sports, (classical) music and books. I speak Dutch, French, English fluently and I am learning Italian.

I've worked in university and corporate settings the past 5 years, specializing in educational technology. But something was missing. Sitting at a desk all day, having tons of online meetings and not really knowing what your impact is: it felt wrong. So I quit my job and decided to have a little adventure. From September until December 2026, I will be travelling, working and eating my way through the different regions of Italy. I hope to connect with people from all walks of life, learn new skills and most of all reconnect with myself.

Through WorkAway, I hope to rediscover authentic, slow travel where experience and connection is more important than touristic hot-spots. We could all use a bit more human connection in my opinion :).

What's next after my travels? I would love to start teaching languages, because I believe that's where my passion truly lies.

I would love to teach and learn languages through conversation, as I believe it's the best possible way to really learn. You can know all the grammar and vocabulary rules, but the real learning starts in conversation. I am happy to talk to you in Dutch, English or French. I would love to practice my Italian with native speakers.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I love to cook delicious meals (mostly vegetarian) and have a special affinity with Italian cuisine.

I am a good cleaner. A clean space means peace for me :).

I have excellent communication skills (both verbal and in writing) in Dutch, English and French, thanks to my language studies.

But overall I am an eager learner and curious to how things work in general.
