Hi, my name's Anu, and as you can see, I'm a mature++ workawayer. I'm married with four grown kids. I had a dog, a Cairn terrier, but four years ago I had to make the hardest decision of my life, and have her put to sleep. Have missed having a dog in the house ever since.

I love travelling and meeting new people, so Workaway has been the perfect opportunity for me to get a glimpse of everyday life in another country, and do a bit of traveling
and sightseeing while there. It's also a great way to brush up my English. Before the pandemic, I had the chance to do voluntary work in two marvellous places: Kilkenny, Ireland, and Coleraine, Northern Ireland. I'm a big fan of Ireland, and therefore would love to visit there this summer as well.

I lead quite an active life. I'm into sports, and despite my age, I'm a competitive runner, competing in a variety of distances with the marathon being my main goal. For several years now I've combined sports and travel by running a marathon abroad, sharing my passion for running with thousands of other runners, and getting acquainted with the city before, during and after the run. My profile picture is from the finish area of the Vienna city marathon in April 2022. I also enjoy Pilates, Yoga, swimming, dancing, reading, knitting, and baking. I'm used to all housework - however, I'm not the most experienced DIY person because my husband has always been the one to do the odd jobs around the house. We have a big garden - so I'm very familiar with weeding the flower bed and the hedge... ;-) I don't grow any veg but in the autumn I love going to the forest and pick berries and mushrooms, something that is very typical of us Finns.

Because I work full time (I'm a teacher by profession), I can only offer to work in the summer, from a week up to four weeks.
