This was my first workaway experience. I stayed with Eneko and his wife Amaya for a month and absolutely loved every second of it! During my time on the farm I learned a lot about agriculture. Both Eneko and Amaya went above and beyond to make me feel at home, between the amazing food and great conversation, I felt comfortable from the moment I stepped into there home. They are very humble people who take pride in their culture, not only did I learn a lot about agriculture but I also learned a lot about the Basque language and its cultural background.

Work on the farm: During my time on the farm there was a very steady routine. The workload was very accurate to the profiles description. After breakfast we would go to the farm and weed the garden/ greenhouse, collect vegetables for the market, and other tasks such as peeling apples, feeding chickens, collecting hazelnuts and walnuts, and planting vegetables. Eneko was very straight forward, gave clear directions on what was needed from me and was very patient and willing to answer any questions. On Saturday morning you get the choice to go to the market and see what its like, I would recommend everybody to go at least once as it is an experience within itself!

Exploring the area: The bus stop is about a 10 minute walk from the house. The bus will take you into Tolosa, a small town/ city with local people, restaurants and shops. There is always something fun going on in Tolosa on the weekends! From Tolosa you can take either the bus or train into Donostia/ San Sebastian. Donostia is more of a touristy city with fancy restaurants, tons of shopping and beautiful beaches. Everything is very accessible and Eneko and Amaya were very sweet, offered rides whenever they went into town.

It was emotional for me to leave as I felt like there house became home to me in a way and I became apart of the family. Eneko was like my "abroad father" and always had my best interest at heart. Poking fun, offering advise and a helping hand anytime he could. I will never forget this experience as it has changed my perspective on life for the better. Lots of great memories and laughs, you will be lucky to you meet genuine people like this as it doesn't happen often. Thank you for everything! I wish you the best, hoping there are more sunny days and baby cows to come your way! <3
