Hello! My name is Angelo Pira, I am 19 years old, and I live in the Netherlands. I am currently studying Earth Sciences at Utrecht University, where I plan to specialize in water-related topics.

As my studies become more advanced, speaking English well is becoming increasingly important. I can already communicate in English, but speaking is still the most difficult part for me. I would really like to improve my confidence and fluency by becoming a Workawayer in Ireland. At the same time, I hope to experience Irish culture, meet new people, and contribute to my host's project. To be honest, I had some help writing this profile, but it reflects my level of English and my motivation to improve it.

Last year I spent a week travelling around Ireland, and I absolutely loved it. I visited Dublin, the Cliffs of Moher and many beautiful natural areas. That trip made me want to come back, not just as a tourist, but to really experience everyday life in Ireland, improve my English, and get to know the culture from the inside.

I also have travelling experience. As part of my university studies, I spent four weeks camping at different locations in southern France during fieldwork. Living and working outdoors for several weeks taught me to be adaptable, independent, and comfortable in new environments.

Alongside my studies, I work at a plant nursery. Most of my work takes place in the greenhouse, where I help care for plants and carry out a variety of practical tasks. I also work at the checkout, which has given me experience helping customers. Occasionally, I have helped with basic gardening and landscaping work in the nursery's gardens. Although I only have basic experience with gardening, I really enjoyed it and would love to learn more. Before working at the nursery, I spent several years working at the checkout and customer service desk in a hardware store.

I enjoy many different kinds of work and like learning new skills. I am not afraid of trying something new, and I enjoy practical, hands-on tasks just as much as working with people.

In my free time, I love spending time in nature. I enjoy hiking and exploring beautiful landscapes, but I also like visiting towns and cities to experience their atmosphere and history. I enjoy cooking, like being around animals, and always appreciate being outdoors.

I would describe myself as a calm person. I enjoy having conversations and getting to know new people. One of the things I am most looking forward to with Workaway is meeting people from different backgrounds, learning about other cultures, and sharing experiences together.

I have a driving licence, although I have only limited driving experience so far. I am always willing to learn, work hard, and help wherever I can. I hope to be a positive addition to my host, improve my English, and create unforgettable memories while contributing to your home or project.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I have experience with a variety of practical and hands-on work. I currently work at a plant nursery, mainly in the greenhouse where I take care of plants and perform different maintenance tasks. I also work at the checkout, which has given me experience with customer service and working in a team. Occasionally, I have done basic gardening and landscaping work in the nursery’s gardens, which I enjoyed and would like to improve further.

Before this, I worked for several years at a hardware store, also at the checkout and customer service desk. This helped me develop communication skills, responsibility, and the ability to stay calm and helpful when working with people.

I am comfortable with physical work, outdoor tasks, and routine jobs, but I also enjoy learning new skills and trying different types of work. During my studies in Earth Sciences, I have done fieldwork, including a four-week camping period in southern France, which required independence, adaptability, and teamwork in changing environments.

I would say my strengths are that I am reliable, calm, eager to learn, and easy to work with. I am motivated to help wherever needed, whether it is outdoor work, gardening, basic maintenance, or helping around the house or project site.
