Description

Hey there! We are Andrea and Tiago, from Italy and Portugal respectively, and we're both university graduates living in Italy. After our studies we're currently looking for a different and meaningful experience to share together.

In fact, one of the things that really motivates and brings us happiness is the opportunity to engage in meaningful cultural exchange. We believe that learning about different cultures, traditions, and ways of life, as well as connecting with people from diverse backgrounds, sharing experiences, and learning from one another, all can broaden our perspectives and foster mutual understanding.

Besides this, exploring new places, immersing ourselves in different environments, and embarking on adventures is a great source of joy. We love the thrill of discovering unfamiliar landscapes, trying local cuisines, and engaging in outdoor activities.

We are extremely motivated by the opportunity to acquire new skills and knowledge through hands-on experiences, especially in projects that promote culture, youth, sustainability, creativity, and personal growth. Moreover, making a positive impact and contributing to the community and to our planet is an important aspect of our motivation. We would love to combine our passion for travel with meaningful work experiences, as we truly believe in giving back and being of service to others :)

We can work and complement each other very well to bring a wide range of skills, experience and abilities that make us a great fit for Workaway experiences!

Starting with Andrea, ever since I can remember I’ve always cultivated a strong interest in different cultures. This led me to spend a year abroad in the Philippines and, consequently, to join a bachelor’s degree in language and cultural mediation. It was during this course that I chose to study Arabic language and the history, culture and politics of the SWANA region.
I have acquired different competencies and skills during my work experiences. I carried out an internship in a social cooperative involved in the reception and integration of migrants and refugees, in which I had the opportunity to get to know the legal aspect of the immigration policies and to take an active role in Italian teaching classes. Moreover, I have been working for many years in our family-run pizzeria, and therefore I can handle the entire preparation process.
Besides work experiences, I have a strong passion for gardening and working closely with nature, since my family and I are used to spend a lot of time in renovating our farmhouse in the countryside. In conclusion, I consider myself a curious wanderer, that is able to create an exciting environment where reciprocal respect and mutual understanding is the basic fundament for a cultural exchange.

As for Tiago, my biggest passion has always been photography and videomaking, which led me to study Multimedia and Graphic Design in university. Since then I have gained several work experiences: I collaborated with two local newspapers, where I worked as a photojournalist and article writer, and completed two internships in media and communication, during which I gained confidence and put my knowledge to practice.
Some of my other work experiences involve summer jobs, like picking blueberries at a farm and working in a festival, as well as some volunteering – I helped to build an eco-house, decorated and maintained a garden in the Amalfi Coast region, did a fire lookout through various forest areas of my hometown, collected donated food for people in need, took part in a paper collecting campaign, among others.
I consider myself a very organized person and believe I possess a keen eye for aesthetics and to create visually appealing and comfortable spaces. I also have some experience in event planning, from cultural evenings and workshops to movie nights and local tours. Furthermore, I have knowledge in farming, gardening and crafting, similarly because of the fact I grew up helping my family at our farmhouse. Plus, I love cooking!

Most of all, we both possess good creative thinking and problem-solving skills, and we love to learn and are open to work any kind of job because our objective is to have amazing experiences and to get to know people and cultures from all over the world.
