  • Description

    Hello,
My name is Amy, I am DBS checked and I love helping my local community through pet-sitting, babysitting, working in local stores to support small businesses, and tutoring young children in maths and English. I love to work with people, but I am most passionate about animals and nature, spending most of my free times outdoors.

My appreciation for the environment grew during work experience at an eco-smallholding, which optimises biodiversity through habitat creation and selective rewilding, with a focus on carbon capture and minimal use of fossil fuels. This enriching and eye-opening experience gave me the opportunity to work on the land, and with livestock (primarily sheep), but most importantly teaching me how the natural world can be helped once fully understood.

When I was sixteen I was given the opportunity to attend an auricular acupuncture masterclass at the Yuan Clinic, qualifying in the NADA protocol. I have also completed Levels 1 and 2 of the Teen Yoga Ambassador training, specialising in mental health, enabling me to support young people both physically and psychologically. I explored this further through completing my level 2 counselling training. As nature has physically and mentally helped me, it inspired my interest to help others.

I spent 7 weeks at a workaway in Italy which involved caring for 2 dogs, 2 cats, 3 horses, 5 ponies, and 2 goats. This involved feeding the animals everyday, regularly walking the dogs, regularly exercising and grooming the horses and ponies, and mucking out the stables and goat pen everyday. Through feeding, grooming, and handling the animals, I deepened my understanding of animal behaviour (especially equine behaviour) whilst developing a strong and unique bond between each animal, carefully monitoring each of their individual needs so that they could maintain the upmost physical and mental wellbeing. I also gained experience in physical outdoor tasks to maintain the land, and decorate accommodation: making and spreading wood chippings, raking and clearing leaves, and painting wooden cabins on the land.

Whilst on a workaway in Italy, I single-handedly planned, organised, and taught Cambridge English lessons to children between the ages of 5 and 14 years old. I adapted the lessons according to the age of the children, size of the class (ranging from 1-15 children), and level of English. I constantly and continuously ensured to incorporate games, and creative tasks to vary the lessons, and create a positive and fun learning environment and to maintain an effective and practical method of teaching. This opportunity enabled me to learn about the Italian education system whilst being immersed in Italian culture. I also navigated the Duke Of Edinburgh's Award Online Record Book to help the 14+ year olds associated with Rachel’s Learning Centre achieve their bronze, silver, or gold award through the centre. Particularly helping the disadvantaged children such as the Ukranian Refugees to learn English and to achieve their Duke Of Edinburgh’s Award. During this recent workaway, I also helped with the business aspect by taking photographs and videos for social media, and completing admin tasks such as; writing/responding to emails, planning and publicly speaking (as an English translator) in work-related presentations/meetings/award ceremonies, contacting business partners/schools, and organising the office to maintain a tidy and functional workspace.

I also have experience with farm work from a recent 2 week workaway in Austria where I fed and cared for sheep, chickens, ducks, and two little girls aged four and nine.
I did a range of farm related outdoor activities from putting up fences, to woodwork and gardening.

I am a kind, hard-working person, really excited to develop my knowledge of nature and how to help the environment whilst meeting new people and experiencing new places along the way!

  • Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I have lots of experience working with people through working in a local shop and department store, this helped me to develop my problem-solving and communication skills, constantly requiring me to quickly and efficiently think of solutions! I also have lots of experience working with children through years of babysitting and tutoring young children in Maths and English (in my local community), and spending 2 months teaching Cambridge English lessons in Italy. In my free time, I am always walking outdoors with my dog whatever the weather!
