  • Description

Hello, I'm Amanda, a 48-year-old Italian-Brazilian woman. Mother and stepmother. Wife and ex-wife. Full-time friend. Editor and proofreader, Portuguese as a second language teacher and lifelong learner.

I currently live with my family in São Paulo. There are 5 of us: Conrado, Maria, Leon and Juan. Unfortunately, we don't have any pets. Fortunately, we have lots of plants. A very lively home, full of joy and yet peaceful.

I'm "almost" fluent in English, if that even exists, not at all fluent in French, although I have a solid knowledge of the language (I studied French for 4 years at university), basic Italian (stay tuned to find out why!) and Spanish I think I know.

Some things I really enjoy: walking (Baudelaire flâneur style), cycling (not as a sport, but as a means of transportation and to de-stress), reading (especially literature), swimming, taking good care of my home (from cleaning, organizing, decorating), cooking, gardening (don't be fooled about these last two because I consider myself, at best, an amateur, a curious person willing to learn). Above all, I like being with people, meeting new people, experiencing people (their origins, their places, their cultures, their habits, their worldview).

My Italian nationality is something new. Intriguingly new. In 2022, I spent a few months in Italy to have my citizenship recognized. It was a magical experience. I felt deeply connected to an origin that, until a few years ago, I was unaware of. Italy made me feel at home (without me knowing that this home existed for me).

As for my Brazilian nationality, I am well versed in it. I consider myself a happy person, by nature and conviction. Furthermore, as a good native that I am, I am not afraid of work or adversity (as long as it does not involve many cloudy days in a row).

I seek lightness - of spirit, mainly - and beauty. I work hard to be light. I seek pleasant and inviting spaces (both indoors and outdoors).

Last but not least, I am in search of new connections, experiences and challenges.

  • Quelles sont vos compétences ?

Graduated in tourism with an emphasis on hospitality and modern languages, I had the most different work experiences. From dog sitting, chambermaid, travel agent, Portuguese teacher for foreigners, receptionist, exchange program coordinator, waitress, proofreader...

So, I know a little bit of a lot and what I don't know I'm willing to learn.

And even though my experiences may seem random or disconnected, they have something in common: (good) relationships with others.
