Description

I felt a call to leave city life and to experience rural living thus embarking on a journey of working or volunteering in different parts of British Columbia to immerse myself in farm life, animal care, and learn skills of self sufficiency.

I love nature, animals, hiking/walking, researching/knowledge, personal growth, and eating wholesome organic foods. I am spiritually oriented and embrace an introspective, holistic, conscious way of living as I evolve and grow along my journey.

My first Workaway experience so far was in Gibsons, assisting an elderly couple with domestic work as well as various tasks around their property.

In past travels, not from Workaway, I've attended a Vipassana meditation retreat in California and volunteered with the American Conservation Experience assisting in trail construction and removing weeds. I also worked at an organic farm in Nakusp, weeding vegetable fields and cleaning garlic for a season. Recently, I volunteered at a farm in Gibsons as the morning animal caretaker for sheep, goats, chickens and occasionally miniature horses. There I helped dog/cat-sit a few times, and occasionally farm-sat for their neighbour's donkey, turkey, goats and chickens. I loved the work so much that I extended my stay to a year and several months.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

My main skill is caregiving - I worked as a caregiver for an adult with autism in my previous job and recently volunteered as an animal caretaker for a variety of animals. I can assist with general administrative and computer/internet related tasks and odd jobs that are required. I have limited experience in gardening and farm work, but I love working outdoors and enjoy learning new skills.
