Rebecca and Martin spent about two weeks with us at Instituto Vira-Mundo, and it was an absolute pleasure having them! Throughout their stay, they were incredibly helpful with all of our daily activities, showing great initiative and dedication. A truly special highlight was the music they brought to the project—the kids absolutely loved learning and singing along to their incredible songs. Their participation and engagement were outstanding, and they brought wonderful energy to our community. We would love to welcome them back anytime for a longer stay! Highly recommended volunteers

Nick was wonderfully accommodating and fitted in so well helping in so many ways and at the same time sorting out the sale of his car as he was completing his working holiday stay in NZ. Thoroughly recommend him and wish him all the best in his travels

Ursula was a wonderful help at our funny farm during those wet wet rainy days. Very calm and relax Ursula floats through time always ready to create colours with a story of magic behind. The beautiful mural - 8m x 2m - Ursula painted is a living 4D journey part out of 1001 Arabian Nights . Thank you so much!

If you get the chance to have Jara on your project for a while, TAKE IT. Over the years, we have had quite a lot of visitors and volunteers, but Jara is someone I really want to highlight. She was with us for over a month, and truth be told, she will probably be the benchmark from now on. You know, the person who makes you hope that the next volunteer might be like her! Jara impressed us all in one way or another. She is a hard worker, yet completely without the desire to prove anything. She noticed many of the things that usually only the people living here even see, and, more importantly, she took the initiative to take care of them. Caring, intelligent, and awake to what was going on around her. Jara, thank you so much for everything. You were truly amazing!

I stayed in Gunma from mid-April to early June. Michelle and Rob were very kind, and the children were very lovely. Michelle left a strong impression on me, both as a mother and as a woman. She speaks in a very calm way, and she doesn’t label people or try to define them. She just lets things be, and at the same time, she protects the children as they grow. Because of this, the children feel safe to explore the world in their own way. They run barefoot on the ground, hold onto their mother when they want closeness, eat by themselves with focus and joy, and receive small surprises from their parents every day. They are not rushed, not controlled. They are growing in a warm and open space. Many people come and go in this home, but everyone naturally respects its way of life and its boundaries. I feel this atmosphere makes people more relaxed and more open to each other. I spent one night alone with the children. I have siblings with a 15- and 17-year age gap, and I have had experience caring for children since middle school, so I am always very careful with my words and actions around them. Being with children is never just play. It is also a kind of reflection. I notice where I need more patience, and where I need more gentleness. This sense of responsibility sometimes becomes a quiet pressure inside me. But with Michelle and Rob, that pressure feels lighter. Without needing to explain anything, they seem to take some of that weight away. Maybe it comes from the way they live, or something they have learned over time. I cannot say clearly. In any case, kids seem to have a natural gift for love. Maybe when a person feels full inside, love feels simple. I miss you, sweethearts, Bailey and Amelia.

I initially had agreed to a different Workaway but I decided to come to Grace's family instead and I'm so glad I did! I loved my experience here! Everyone in the family welcomed me warmly and I got to meet so many wonderful people. I went to gym classes with Grace, went to pool practice with Verena, I got to meet friends of Grace and went to night markets with them in the centre of São Paulo, I went to Volleyball practice with Grace's nephew, I met the students of Anselmo and was shown a beautiful cathedral in the mountains where he spent a good amount of his life, I went to Grace's school and befriended her co-worker Luciana who took me in for a day and showed me how to make Coxinhas and I also watched some K-Dramas with Iria. We also went to markets together and played Bingo & saw dances during Festa Junina in Caieiras. Due to my very social days, I didn't clean as much in the house as I probably should have (I of course kept things clean but didn't wash down the whole upper area) but I walked the dogs and enjoyed bonding with them. Grace and I sometimes took the dog to different areas and parks with less street dogs where we had beautiful conversations about life and the world. The dogs are very easy to handle and love cuddling on the couch! I loved being around Verena and playing with her on the playgrounds or in the house. She is a very cute, happy and trustworthy child and I enjoyed becoming her friend. It helped that I speak Spanish as both Grace and Anselmo are fluent but when new volunteers arrived who only speak English, I saw that it worked as well. It was a beautiful and very social experience and definitely brought my whole Brazilian adventure onto a deeper and personal level. I'd definitely come back and recommend this Workaway to others. Queridos Grace, Anselmo e Iria, gracias por permitirme ser parte de su familia y por ser tan abiertos y amables. Espero poder ver noticias de ustedes, especialmente de su pequeña Verena. Un fuerte abrazo para todos

Julian is a great host. The hostel is still taking shape and it is in an unbeatable location. It is close to the boulevard, la calle del sabor, san antonio, you can go to all the best spots by foot. We walked back as a group alone at 2am without a problem. I really appreciate this because as a woman, safety is important to me. The other volunteers are great and I quickly became close with them. You have so much time to do whatever you want to do in Cali. Julian is flexible and understanding. He has experience volunteering himself as a world traveler, which I appreciate and makes the experience so much better.

We got the chance to host Barbara for a couple of days and we are more than glad that we had this opportunity. We had really good communication, she is open minded, always ready to help with anything we requested. We shared food (together with his partner they also prepared delicious meals so we could try their cuisine as well), laughter and had amazing evenings playing cards. She was willing to teach us yoga - it was a nice way to start our mornings. We wish you many more travels and if you happen to come back we would be more than happy to have you here again.

I start with the bad aspect of a false communication of the old management.. Coming there with being offered to teach 12 Yogalessons a week i was disappointed as the realistic frequency was much much lower&i wasn't let to do other volunteer-tasks also.. I wanted a private room&could not make up for it by helping the hostel with other things (even though i WAS a volunteer as a Yogateacher&was giving a highly unrealistic idea of how much i can compensate through teaching..) That was def. a bigger minus i sadly have to say... Nonetheless i'm grateful for all the super super cute&friendly locals, a very neat, tidy&clean hostel. The chevice in the end of the road (@the soccerplace) is absolutley banging &the team of Diego,Jason,Iva etc. (&Nidia&her super sweet cats&Lobo) in themselfs were also super friendly! Grateful for the nice surf there, good talks during very nice breakfast (chiabowls)&as much community as it's possible in a hostel i guess 😅. When u're a young traveler&Surfer in ecuador there's propapbly not many more better places to be than HP.. For me it's still quiet sad though that the amount of yogalessons i can give was estimated so unrealistically& i wasn't let doing other volunteer tasks. It was never even being justified to me (even though it slightly felt it was also bc. some other volunteers maybe seemed to be jealous that i'm there as a yogateacher 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️. For future Yt's to know - in my experience it was MAX. 5 Lessons a week!!& not 12 as i was told in advance I think the yoga-teacher position shld. def. find a hybrid half volunteer/half teacher or half guest/halt teacher solution for that reason... Otherwise one might end up somewhat disappointed&slightly subchallenged with everything one finds there - despite the nice surf&terrace, great friendly&supportive people of the hostel ... Thx. for everything though&i'm happy if i can come back to HP once - this time then as 60% regular volun.&30% as a teacher though 😅😅 Much love!

Our experience with Erica was absolutely beautiful!!! She is someone who is always ready to give her absolute best in class. Our students loved having her as their teacher, and we loved having her as a volunteer! Without a doubt, she is a woman who leaves a lasting mark on everyone around her, always with a smile, the best attitude, and ready for anything. Erica, we wish you nothing but the best, and you know that you now have a family and a place to call home here in Tunja. You are so full of joy and love to give, and life will always reward you for that! ¡Infinitas gracias Erica, te queremos! :)

I I had a great time staying with Sonja and Jeff on Gabriola Island. They both gave me such a warm and open welcome, we had wonderful conversations and I felt right at home. I learnt a lot and am grateful for this enriching and inspiring experience! The farm is beautiful and my room above the workshop was very cosy. The work was varied, planting, weeding, cooking, mowing - I enjoyed it a lot. And there was still plenty of time to explore the island. I also enjoyed the time spent with Allie and Garfield and the interesting conversations we had. I would have loved to have stayed longer. Thank you!

I had such an amazing time. I was only there for a week but it was filled with such joy and community spirit. Brigitte is a wonderful person, who invites you in wholly, and has so many enriching stories and perspectives. I very much hope to visit again in the future. The hours and work is clear and fair - we worked 8-1 Mon-Fri and had afternoons and weekends free. Brigitte is very understanding and flexible though, so you could do some hours after lunch if you preferred or extra hours for another day off. I spent most of my time clearing and weeding, and helping with odd jobs here and there. The area is amazing - Brigitte has built such a beautiful l, free spirited garden with an INSANE view. There is so much to explore with Menton and Monaco just a 15 minute bus ride away. It's a dream, and I hope to live it again!

Sakura was such a lovely person to be around and she worked very hard. I really enjoyed the cultural exchange with her as she cooked some of the best meals of my life. She became a close friend of ours and we highly recommend her.

Having Sinead and her incredible energy was a super experience for me. We also had a young French/English couple at the same time. We all bonded over walks, hikes, swimming and especially at the dinner table. Saying goodbye to Sinead left us all feeling lonely but we continued and had many laughs about our time together. I know she’ll be back and I fully intend to join her in Colorado Miss you loads B

Katie and Jordan came to my home just before my annual Christmas Party to join us for the season. I was happy to offer them a Canadian family Christmas experience! They helped me greatly in my renovations of the Coach House… removing and bagging old drywall and other tasks in the cold of winter. Also put their muscles to work shovelling our first snowfalls! I introduced them to friends who were later able to have them come stay with them to help. They have been much appreciated here on PEI!

My experience in Puyuelo has been amazing, since the day I started they made me feel like home and part of the community. I've learnt a lot from them, not only workingwise (of which I've got a lot more skills now) but also in relationships, communication and shearing emotions... The work was varied, we worked in the forest, building fences, made some clay walls, did some gardening, or even sometimes the task was just to walk down the path and collect some materials for construction... All the people and animals ther are lovley and the humans are very enthusiastic about their project, very honest and willing to listen to every suggestions or speak about feelings, I really appreciated that :) All the food is vegetarian and you have a whole kitchen and wood oven to be creative!! Having said that, I want to thank to all the people which has been part of my experience in Puyuelo, I'm sure that I'll be back!!

Daniela is a hard worker who doesn’t shy away from a challenge. She’s a nice, serious, resourceful and trusted person. Unfortunately, I didn’t get the chance to get to know her very well as she had to leave after three days for family reasons.
