  Description

  We Are an international Norwegian family of four living and working in Norway - however spending a lot of hour free time in Sweden at our wonderful farm on the magic Lurö island in the middle of lake Vänern.
  
  We have 12 houses ont he farm. We have been renovating and bringing the main buildings back to old style and we simply love being here in the middle of nature. We also have renovated a lighthouse on a nearby island.
  
  We are not a business. It’s our private farm. The work will be in regard of our private property.
  
  We also have a company renting properties on neighbouring island . The work away tasks doesn’t involve this.
  
  
  The archipelago of Lurö is simply incredibly. We are in the middle of nature reserve and the wildlife is simply astonishing.
  
  We offer:
  • Free accommodation with full facilities and comfort.
  • Access to a boat (with fuel), ATV, and tools.
  • Silence, incredible nature, and possibly Sweden’s best fishing (salmon, pike, perch) right outside the door.
  • Duration: from a few months up to a year or more – we’re flexible.

  We have a help organisation to the nature reserve with more than 200 participants meeting regularly to take care of trails, island and public buildings. Lots of activities on island. When we are there you are part of family. We will invite if you wish.
  
  We offer knowledge on history and nature reserve and understanding of Scandinavian culture nature and life .
  
  About the island:
  • The island has a rich and fascinating history: you’ll find monastery ruins, traces of Viking settlements, and an ancient stone-age hillfort.
  • There are several old farmhouses – including our own.
  • In summer, there is a restaurant, café, and hostel in operation – in winter, everything is closed and peaceful.
  • You’ll find breathtaking nature, blue skies, and abundant wildlife – ideal if you seek quiet and nature.
  • Strong 5G signal and good internet – suitable for remote work.
  • Summer ferry service is available. In winter, access is by private boat – or over the ice.
  • The closest harbor is Ekenäs, located at the tip of Värmlandsnäs, about 35 minutes by car from Säffle. The nearest larger city is Karlstad.
  • An ATV (quad bike) is available for work and transport on the island.
  
  The house:
  • Heated with both electricity and wood.
  • Modern kitchen with fridge, stove, and dishwasher.
  • Hot shower and a modern Cinderella incineration toilet (odorless and eco-friendly).
  • Reliable 5G internet – Teams and remote work ready.

  Aide

  Live for free on a stunning Swedish island – help care for a unique place in Lake Vänern. Help needed for gardening and take care of buildings on property. Oiling of jetties and other smaller tasks when required..
  
  Would you like to live for free on a beautiful island in the middle of Europe’s largest lake – in the heart of the Lurö Archipelago Nature Reserve?
  
  We’re looking for a calm and practical couple (or a retired person, freelancer, or nature lover…) to stay in our modern home in exchange for helping take care of our property.
  
  Who we’re looking for:
  • You (or you both) have time and interest in helping with gardening, and light forestry.
  • You enjoy remote, comfortable living – no cars, just nature.
  • You are hands-on, self-reliant, and trustworthy.

  Hébergement

  Own house (see other description). Winter isolated.
  
  Stipend will be provided for 3 meals a day. On top to shared meals when possible / wanted. Ingredients from garden are of course also free to take.
