My name is Babi, I’m 33 years old and I’m originally from Guatemala. Three years ago I came to Tzununa, where I rent the land I live and work on, transforming it into a more beautiful and special place. I’m creating a garden with a great variety of plants, which I hope to turn into a sort of living museum where people can admire the diversity and beauty of the species that grow spontaneously and the ones I cultivate.
I am passionate about plants and the human body, which has led me to work as an herbalist at the Casa, a local apothecary where I craft medicines and make them available for people in Guatemala. Outside of work, I enjoy hiking the mountains surrounding the valley and spending time with friends. I live with my dog, Negra, who always accompanies me on my walks and adventures in the area.
Tzununa is a peaceful place, surrounded by mountains and lush greenery, with easy access to nearby waterfalls and rivers. It’s also well-connected to other lake towns like Jaibalito and San Marcos, that can be easily reached by walking, San Pedro and Panajachel, by boat. Additionally, there are several interesting spots in the area, such as Atitlan Organics and Fungi Academy, where you can learn about organic farming and the fascinating world of mushrooms.
This place has become my sanctuary, where I can enjoy my life and work in harmony with nature.Types d'aide et opportunités d'apprendre

I am looking for proactive people who are eager to learn and contribute in a creative environment that is in harmony with nature. I want to work with individuals who are organized, responsible, and enjoy independence, but also value teamwork. If you are passionate about connecting with the land, artisanal production, and making a positive impact on the environment, this could be an ideal opportunity for you.
Areas where you can contribute include:
-Regenerative agriculture, helping to cultivate and care for plants that nourish both the soil and people.
-Help with land preparation, assisting with preparing the soil for planting, building dry stone walls, and contributing to small construction projects around the property.
-Teaching English, providing classes to community members interested in improving their language skills.
-Transforming seasonal fruits and vegetables into wild ferments, making herbal preparations, and creating delicious and creative dishes from local ingredients.
If you are excited about working with the land, teaching, or creating natural products, this is an opportunity to join an inspiring and purposeful environment.Langues

Enjoying nature and simplicity is a must: The space is rustic, offering basic comforts without luxuries. It’s ideal for those who appreciate tranquility and a break from modern conveniences, embracing a peaceful, nature-focused lifestyle.
Utilities included: Gas and electricity are fully covered, so there are no additional costs for these.
Food arrangements: Access to native greens and fruits, cultivated herbs and vegetables, that are growing in the land. Basics like oil and spices are included. You’re welcome to buy your own food if you prefer.
Friendliness towards dogs: My dog, Negra, is an important part of the household. She is outdoors 100% of the time, which means she doesn't come into the living spaces and we do not feed her anything except her own food. She is friendly, respectful and loves to explore and take walks.
Work: Please note that while I'm here to provide support, I expect volunteers to be self-directed and proactive. This experience is for those comfortable taking initiative and managing their own tasks, as I won’t be available for constant supervision or teaching. Embrace the opportunity to learn and explore independently in this beautiful setting.
Weather conditions: The climate varies slightly each year, but typically temperatures range from 14-27°C. The dry season runs from November to May, with minimal rain (maybe once a month), while the wet season, from May to November, brings afternoon showers about three to four days a week.Informations complémentaires
