Description
We are a family of 4 with two young girls (ages 8 and 1). Victoria is full of nature to explore such as forests, lakes and beaches, as well as sightseeing spots and cultural activities/events that you will surely love to see and do! It is the capital of British Columbia located on beautiful Vancouver Island. You will not run out of things to do and people to meet!

Echange culturel et opportunités d'apprendre
My family and I always try to go out on weekends, either in nature or to community activities. You are very welcome to join us. We go on roadtrips as well in our beautiful Vancouver Island.
I can share a lot about being Canadian and also about being an immigrant. I love exchanging stories and learning about different cultures!

Aide
We would love to host and have cultural exchanges if you would help us with chores around the house and childcare. Cleaning the kitchen and dining area, loading and unloading the dishwasher, washing dishes that can't go in the dishwasher, mopping up spills, tidying toys and common areas, folding and hanging up clothes and linens, meal prep for our dinners together and preparing a school lunch box and breakfast in the morning. Childcare like playing with them, helping feed the baby and change clothes/diapers, going to the playground down the road etc. Has to be female since I have two daughters. Not required but would be great if you can mow the lawn. A total of around 3-4 hours a day on the weekdays, flexible except for 7am - 8am to make the lunch box and help with the morning routine, and then make dinner for 6pm-7pm dinner time.
It is very easy to find work in the service industry (restaurants / retail / groceries / cleaning etc.) and you can work regular hours if you choose to do so weekdays 9am - 5pm, in the evenings after 8pm and all weekends!
I am very talkative and would be a great help if you would like to practice speaking in English.
In case there would be more than one Workawayer staying with us, we can discuss additional help needed like taking shifts so we can have help on the weekends, gardening, cleaning the cars, other projects for home improvement, possibly driving the kids to/from school etc.

Hébergement
We have 2 bedrooms in our basement suite. It has its own main entrance, bathroom, kitchen, washer & dryer, as well as a couch, dining table and TV. There is a CCTV camera in the common area (kitchen, living and dining area) that will only be recording video (not audio) when there is more than one Workawayer staying with us for accountability in case an incident happens especially to any of the appliances and furniture. The SD card will be reformatted/deleted when one Workawayer leaves. It will be turned off when there is only one Workawayer staying with us.
Breakfast is usually bread/cereals/granola/fruits and tea/coffee. Lunch is usually a sandwich or whatever you want to prepare since we won't be eating together. You will have to cook dinner, otherwise I will buy something that’s pre-prepared like marinated meat or lasagna that can be put in the oven. I don’t have time to really cook so I would appreciate it if you can cook. I can also buy a meal kit and you can follow the instructions. I used to do this when I only had my firstborn, but with a new baby, it’s impossible.
Autres infos...
I’d love it if you can stay for many months with us and be a part of our family. We have a bus stop in our neighbourhood a few minutes walk down the road so you can go anywhere in Greater Victoria. There is also a small strip mall opening soon within walking distance! The galloping goose trail is nearby too. Ideally we would let each other know what times we are expecting to be interacting together and we will also give you your privacy in the suite. We are very warm and open, but also chaotic since we have 2 young kids.

Possibilité d’accueillir les digital nomads
Digital nomads are very welcome as you can work in the basement suite, which is basically a self-contained apartment here in Canada. You can definitely work during the workday because we only need help in the morning (for school lunch prep and morning rush) and evenings for dinner. It will be up to you when you would like to fold the clothes and tidy up.
