Description
Hello everyone! I'm Pablo and I live in southern Chile. A couple of years ago, I began developing the family farm with the dream of one day transforming it into a glamping and educational farm, with the goal of uniting animals, nature, and people to increase their understanding and respect for nature. We're focused on building a glamping site and other structures to further our dream of sharing a sustainable and eco-friendly lifestyle with the people of Chile.
We already have several birds and animals such as chickens, peacocks, emus, rabbits, sheep, deer, horses, cows, etc.
Part of your work will involve helping to feed and care for the animals, but for now, we need help with the construction of the glamping site, maintenance, general cleaning, and gardening and housework. We're preparing for the summer season, where we'll now focus on being ready to offer the day pass, where people can come to Fundo San José for the day and enjoy this beautiful place.
The farm is located in Copiulemu, about 20 minutes from Concepción, a large cosmopolitan city 500 km south of Santiago.
We need intelligent, hardworking people willing to help out for six hours a day. Of course, the schedule is flexible, depending on the week's activities. In return, you'll receive healthy and nutritious food and accommodation in the spacious country house.
If you're looking to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and enjoy the peace and quiet of the countryside (admittedly, we're not that laid-back, there's always something fun to do) and you like to get up early and get down to business, Fundo San José is the ideal place.

Echange culturel et opportunités d'apprendre
You will get to experience rural life, work with animals and also be surrounded by friendly locals who love to hang out and party. You will see the real Chile not just the tourist trail.
The farmhouse has a pool and large BBQ area that you can enjoy in your time off 😊
We speak English and Spanish so will help you improve your language skills.
Both of us are experienced travellers so can assist you with planning your trip in South America (we also lived in Australia, New Zealand & Sweden and have visited much of South East Asia if those are on your list)

- Yurt, Caravan, Bell Tent, Apartment, Hot Tubes Project:
DONE! there are some stuff that we still need to improve but the main project its al ready done .
-Farm
If you have skills or knowledge in permaculture or organic farming practices we would love to hear from you.
We are hoping to grow and produce as much of our own food as possible.
We have a new greenhouse and space to grow vegetables but we lack knowledge in this area.
We have a vineyard that we need help enhancing and an apple orchard that is doing well.
We are developing an educational farm with the animals that are here so want to ensure that each one is as happy and healthy as possible. For example, we need to build a new house for the rabbits and create information displays about the animals, etc.
- Educational Farm Projet
If you have skills or experience in education, working with children, or managing animals, we would love to hear from you too.
We are developing an educational farm where visitors—especially children—can learn about nature, animals, and sustainable farming practices. We are looking for help to:
Develop and run educational programs and activities for children and families
Maintain and clean animal areas, trails, and farm spaces
Assist with horse training and general animal care
Help with managing trails and creating safe, engaging spaces for visitors
Our goal is to ensure that every animal is happy and healthy, and that our visitors have a meaningful, hands-on learning experience. Volunteers will have the opportunity to learn about educational farm management, sustainable practices, and animal care while contributing to a project that makes a real difference in the community.
-Outdoor
We are planning to develop sustainable projects using recycled/repurposed materials such as pallets to build flower beds and plastic bottles to build a greenhouse. Any ideas and inspiration you have are welcome.
We are also going to establish some walking trails within the woodlands alongside the farm.
We have a duckpond and small lagoon that need improving.
Help to maintain the swimming pool and green areas around the house.
-Other
We already reconstruct part of the Farmhouse and now we use it as a bnb, so need help with some cleaning and maintenence.
If you are artistically talented you can help with some murals or other creative projects.

Hébergement
We have a large farmhouse with a woodstove, you will have either private or shared room depending on how many people we have staying. You will need to be flexible in regards your accomodation as sometimes Pablos family will come to stay, but there will be a comfortable solution for everyone.
There are 3 bathrooms so no need to worry about waiting for the toilet!
Food will be provided in exchange for your work and if you enjoy cooking or want to share/learn recipes you are welcome in the kitchen. We are friendly and open people and believe that food is a great way to bond. For sure there will be the opportunity to experience a typical Chilean Asado (bbq).
If you have any dietary or health requirements please let us know in advance.
Autres infos...
There is a local bus close to the house that will take you into the city or the beach and you will have time to explore Chile's stunning Southern region. Of course if we are heading into town we can give you a ride as well, so long as all the work is done haha. This is our first host profile but we have plenty of kind reviews on Couchsurfing & Workaway if you are curious about us.
