Description
EDIT: I'm looking for a volunteer urgently.
Hi! I live in a peaceful village surrounded by forest, about 20 minutes from Poreč and the sea. We are a small family – me, my 11-year-old son, and a small dog. My parents live in the same yard, and my sister visits with her kids (and another dog). There are chickens and a small garden.
Hosting people is our way of travelling and learning. It’s a beautiful experience for my son to meet people from different cultures and pick up new skills naturally and we hope it will be life learning and inspiring for you, too.
TYPES OF VOLUNTEERING:
We usually welcome honest and independent volunteers for an ideal stay of 2 weeks. Longer stays are also possible, depending on the season.
1. Project-based helpers (practical skills – priority)
This is currently what we need the most. If you have hands-on skills (painting, simple renovation, working with wood, refurbishing furniture…), we can agree on a project – for example helping with an old house renovation with my father. But this doesn't exclude parts of the second part of the help which is:)
2. Daily life / cultural exchange
People who enjoy being part of everyday life and helping where needed – small house tasks, gardening, occasional errands, joining us for activities or even kids’ tournaments.
PS. If you bring something special – music, art, dance, or just great energy with kids – this is highly appreciated.
Practical details
Minimum stay: 2 weeks (up to 1 month, flexible)
A video call before arrival
Mandatory health insurance
Pickup from Poreč, Višnjan or sometimes Pazin
Nearest shop, café, doctor and pharmacy are about 4 km away
No public transport in the village, join us when we go
I'm really looking forward hearing from you!

Echange culturel et opportunités d'apprendre
Kids benefit you no matter what: I learned from my son and nieces the most. They are the biggest teachers and energy boosters one can meet. But it takes time, so if you stay only a short while, you'll just get a sparkle of the magic kids bring:).
SIGHTSEEING: When you're free, you can go to Porec in the morning with me, to go the town for coffee or sightseeing. You can also use my bike to go places. When I go somewhere, if it's not for private reasons, I can take you places. And it's amazing if we can plan a day trip, camping, beach, hiking, whatever together when we are free.
ABOUT ME: I'm an ex-journalist and I hitch-hiked, surfed, and travelled around Europe, India, and SE Asia. I lived in India for 1.5 years and I learned about yoga, and digital marketing which I do for a living today.

Aide
Depending on the season and moment, help can include:
light house tasks (cleaning, organizing, maintaining a nice space - please notice that basic maintainance and preparing meals for yourself with cleaning after doesn't count as volunteering -it should be good manners:).
gardening, arranging outdoor areas, chopping wood
painting or small maintenance tasks
helping with simple renovation tasks
spending time with my son – talking, playing, being present
sharing your skills in a natural, everyday way
No need to be perfect – being reliable, open and willing matters most. It really helps if you’re someone who can notice what needs to be done and take initiative, not only wait for instructions.
Our weekdays have structure because of school, work and training, so it’s important to respect agreed plans and timing.
Outside of that, life can be more relaxed and sometimes flexible. This is a home, not a business – we value communication, independence and a good atmosphere.
FOOD:
We eat simple, seasonal food, often traditional Istrian style, with a lot from the garden and less processed food.
Sometimes we eat together, sometimes everyone does their own thing. There are always ingredients available (please ask if there aren't any), and we go to the store at least once a week. If you need something extra costly or have some special kind of diet, please buy things yourself.
Basic things like cleaning your own space or cooking for yourself are part of normal daily life.

Hébergement
You’ll stay in our ground-floor space with access to a sunny terrace and garden.
There’s a small dog in the house, and the surroundings are peaceful, green and quiet.
You can use a bike to explore, and when possible I can take you to Poreč or nearby towns. Motovun, Grožnjan and Oprtalj are close, and the sea is about 17 km away.
Autres infos...
Our village is settled in a beautiful nature with loads of forest trails. Nearest shop, the coffee bar, doctor, pharmacy... is 4 kilometres away, accessible by bike or join us when you go. It is all very close to beautiful Motovun (8 km), the medieval town you definitely must see in Istria. Groznjan, Oprtalj are also not so far (app 20 km). The nearest swimming beach is 17 kilometres away, wild, nudist, touristic.. whichever you prefer. Obviously, it is less attractive during wintertime, but I swim in the sea during cold months.
If you've read all the profile, please put: gentle love as a keyword in the message you write. Now, let's continue:).
We don't have public transport, it is for people who want to be in a village and ocassionally prefer going to the other places but from Poreč, there are a few buses per day to other towns like Pula, Rovinj, Rijeka, Pazin.
Poreč, Rovinj, Novigrad, all the Istrian cities except Pula and Labin, are on 20 to 40 minutes drive away.
You can also hitchhike or use my bike - it is not easy sometimes but it can be totally fine and exciting:).
Airports Pula and Trieste are less than 100 km away.
When you come for the first time, I'll come to pick you up to one of this places: Višnjan, Poreč, sometimes Pazin, are the good pickup points for the first time.

Possibilité d’accueillir les digital nomads
Full-time digital nomads might not find us as great fit, but if you're between the projects, come and stay shorter period of time! We have tables, wifi, everything and I love meeting entreprenurial people.

Espace pour garer des vans
We had campervan travellers before and it was great. No camper facility - e.g. outdoor toilet and electricity, just some yard. It's very important that you take your litter at paid places, not to the nature. You can use our toilet when being here with a campervan.

Possibilité d'accueillir les animaux
I have a small dog so if you have a small dog, it might work, but we need to check on the video meeting. No large dogs, no dangerous breeds, please.
