Description
Hello my name is Thad and I welcome all travellers and Backpackers to my home to learn, mix with the locals and go diving, snorkeling, hiking and take part in local events. I have been diving for nearly 30 years now and I love to share my passion with all visitors.
In most cases activities like hiking and snorkeling are free but fair warning there can be government fees to pay as well as park entry. To go diving here there is only the cost of air and the government reef fee... although your under no obligation to dive or hike you will be expected to take part in cleaning up after yourself and help around the property.
What we do here is a cultural exchange, where you can learn to live like a Filipino. My property is right at the beach with a beautiful view over Apo Island, one of the top dive sites in the world. I also promote Marine Conservation and Eco-Tourism.Types d'aide et opportunités d'apprendre

Volunteers will stay in a shared room bed. The space is not spacious and living is basic. We also have running water so this is an improvement !
Our location could not be more perfect for relaxing and enjoying ones self as we are situated right on the beach... so when you wake up in the morning and walk outside your feet are in the sand as the house is built in the sand directly on the beach.
The Kitchen is a typical Filipino "Dirty Kitchen" it is a free standing building separate from the house. We have a gas stove and all the basics with coffee and tea for your enjoyment all I ask is that you do not over do it as it is for everyone. We also just got a fridge and an oven!
We are in walking distance from food markets and just 45 minutes from Dumaguete City. Zamboanguita market is a short bike ride away and I provide 2 Simi automatics to use just put in gas otherwise they are free of charge.
There is no WiFi on site because Zamboanguita has no hardwire. Internet options are available, there are also other local places one can enjoy Internet and then there is the other option of pesos net that you can pay for. Otherwise it is the perfect place to get away from technology for a while.
Please bring Beach towel/bath supplies. Tents are really helpful too if we have a lot of guests at a time.
There is Laundry Service Paid or you can wash your own Filipino Style.
We ask that anyone coming are eco friendly and observe conservation efforts. There is usually room and please let us know as if we are full up with people if you like to sleep in a Tent or in the Hammocks.Aide
Hey there guys you have stumbled upon a divers paradise. Our area is known for its diving and this is what we do here, teach locals how to dive free of charge in hopes that locals will use this knowledge to farther their career in diving.
We just moved back to our place in Zamboanguita, which is located right at the seaside and has a beautiful house reef right in fron of our yard. We can comfortably for 20 people in the dorms but there are plenty of hammocks and space for tents.
We always need help here and there, but mostly this is to clean up after yourself and right now there is a lot of rebuilding that needs to be done around the place.. This experience is more a cuture exchange, where there are plenty of locals that come down to us to learn to dive. They come to us because there is not much opportunity to go diving for them because of the cost. I offer the cheapest diving in the world because of this so it gives them an opportunity as well as a possible future in diving.
You can come and help us out here, in return I can give you a place to stay, we work meals out among all of us as we all seem to have our own dietary needs. We can't provide free food as we usually have arpund 15-20 people staying here, but we chip in and go to the market once a week as an option to make it easier for you. A lot of the time the locals will help us cooking local food, or if you like spark up some of your cooking and show us what it is like to eat from where you're from. If you are an artistic soul you are very welcome since we have many bare walls left in the dive shop to be painted. As I said this is less a work away and more a Cuture away.
Most come to stay a week and stay a month or longer ... remember though we can get crowded ... most come and never what to leave they skip there flights and extend their visas
We do offer our guest discounted diving if they like they are under no obligation to dive but if you never got to dive before this is your chance to dive and only pay for the air (600 Pesos) and reef fee (200 pesos) this comes to about 12 to 14 dollars. we are not here to sell you anything and again your under no obligation to dive but figure we will give you the information for this option while you're here so you can prepare for it if you wanted to dive if not cool. If you do not know how to dive well this is what our guys are learning how to become dive masters they can show youhow it's done without a fee (just air and reef fee) - Likely you will never get a chance like this anywhere else in the world - again no obligation and you do not pay the regular rate to dive or DSD you're just paying the cost of air and reef fee - no guide fee - no equipment rental fee, No Shop fee your helping us and we want to help you by giving you a great rate to dive if you wanted to do this - ( I just want to be clear)
The biggest thing we are looking for here is for you to come have a good time and enjoy your time in the sun, there is Diving, Hiking and all sorts of things to do around Zamboanguita and Dauin.
Above all I need volunteers that would help promote marine conservation, cultural exchange and Eco- tourism.Langues parlées

The workaway is located beside the ocean, we can introduce you to the real Filipino culture and take you on a Filipino food adventure. We will teach you how to cook Filipino cuisine and introduce you to Filipino tradition. Volunteers would also have the opportunity to learn speak Tagalog which is the national language and Bisaya/Cebuano, which is the local mother tongue.
You will have the chance to learn about our oceans and all the life you can find under the surface. You will be able to learn about eco-tourism and marine conservation and, if you choose to, also how to dive.Autres infos...
Hot Spring, Waterfalls, Marine Sanctuary (snorkelling), Hiking, ziplining, water park are all close by.
We often go to Fiestas and events that are like almost every weekend and we have a lot of fun.
there are a few house rules we must follow so want to prepare you for this before you arrive.
1- ZERO DRAMA
2- Quiet Time is at 10pm so we must be as quiet as we have elderly neighbors and people wake up early.
3- NO drinking at the house after 10pm and if you come home drunk you must be super quiet no excuse.
There are local bars and the parties to do this sorta thing at ... we dont care if you party but leave it at the bar ... COME HOME QUIET.Informations complémentaires
