    Description

Our rambling old gorgeous home is set on 2.4acres next to a 4acre park, surrounded by European style trees and gardens overlooking a winter creek. It’s a 5 min walk to the centre of Bridgetown which is heritage listed gorgeous country town on the Blackwood River in the heart of the Southwest of Western Australia. We are fun and busy couple in our mid 40's, with two fur dogs Penny Lane & Lucy Diamond. Bridgetown is nice and central location and a great launchpad for day trips to many of the tourist hotspots in the south west. There are beautiful cafes, old pubs and plenty of beautiful walks through forest, river or farmland nearby. Tai Chi & Qi gong in the park next door. Local historic museums.

The House is 100 year old character home which we are slowly renovating. It’s an absolutely beautiful space to be - a spa, plunge pool and sauna really bring the retreat vibes. We decorate and festivals and events for our job so the house is full of unusual decor and different themed guest rooms. We have to travel a lot for work and feel like we don't always have the time and energy to work on our home space. We are hoping to continue to develop our home and gardens so we can run retreats and workshops here in the future. This opportunity would be perfect for people who love nature, plants and quiet creative life. This home feels to big and special not to share!

My husband Jeremy and I unfortunately only speak English fluently but will absolutely have a go trying yours. We are very well travelled and absolutely love sharing and connecting with cultures from all around the world. We know how special it is to be welcomed into a local way of life, far from home and are excited to share our pocket of paradise with you. We are excited to exchange stories, traditions, ceremony and food from different cultures. We have a small and very active community so there are numerous ways we can facilitate your involvement in our local community. From busy bees at our community tree arboretum, local sports, yoga and crafts groups. If you stay with us, you can access all of our studio craft and arts materials if you wish to be creative in your free time. We both have extensive experience in horticulture, permaculture, trees, flowers and bonsai's, so are excited to share time & our knowledge with you.

Due to the nature of our creative events/festival business, no two days are the same in our lives and therefore we have very little routine. Most of our event work takes us further a field but our small shed / warehouse and florist studio which we operate our business from with our event team on our home property. We have a large 2.4 acre old home and garden that we are slowly renovating. We are hoping that by inviting people from different cultures to come spend time in this space that it will encourage us to prioritise improving our property and food and decorative gardens. We generally feel this stay would suit a couple or pair of travellers as although we will welcome you like family, we will not have time to entertain you 100% of the time so it would be good if you are self sufficient in making yourself at home and creating your own fun & adventures sometimes. In exchange for three hours help a day for five days a week we can offer you food and accommodation. We are also ok if you wish to bank those hours into two days so you can work or adventure elsewhere.

Help would include, gardening, light painting, simple home improvement, house and yard cleaning, decorating, preserving foods, cooking. Anyone handy or with building skills would be absolute bonus. We are excited to have you stay, and enjoy the magic of this place! We are well connected in the community also and if you are wishing stay longer in the area, depending on the season we may be able to assist finding you paid rural work on farms nearby.

The help is just on our private home and general garden. Guests will not help with our business.

We have two lovely spare double rooms in one is the called the jungle room and the other is safari themed. You will also have access to your own bathroom, a separate lounge area, WIFI, shared laundry and kitchen, bikes and sports gear. We also have an infra red sauna, plunge pool and jacuzzi you are welcome to enjoy! We love farm fresh and where possible organic and locally sourced meats and vegetables. Our kitchen will always be stocked. Breakfast and lunch will be there for you to help yourself. We would prefer people that are happy for a combination of shared cooking responsibilities in the evenings. (love to share meals, but also occasionally you may have to eat separately). The food and help arrangements are flexible and we are happy to work out a plan that suits us all best at the time.

We are close enough to walk or ride to any of the sights or facilities in town. There is daily bus network connecting you to Perth, the South West or the Great Southern. Our family farm and tree arboretum is only 20 mins away in Balingup , which we go to often and are beautiful places to explore. Donnelly River is a wonderful village in the forest only half an hour away where you can feed wild but tame kangaroos and emus!

The world’s biggest truffle exporting area is just down the road in Manjimup.

The most exquisite Karri forest and wineries around Pemberton are also close by

We have a mini sausage dog and large elderly Ridgeback/ Mastiff whom are very friendly with other animal. We welcome other pets but do live close to a busy road and don't have fences. Our dogs understand the boundaries but it wouldn't be suitable for animals that may wander. Animals are welcome to be inside but only small and clean dogs on the furniture please.
