    PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE REPLYING:
Seeking trustworthy helpers preferably already in Greece. Must speak either Greek or English (or both).
House-sit, water garden and feed cats in exchange for stays of one week miniumum in a beautiful country house in Greece on the island of Aegina, rent-free, with all amenities. DATES UNCERTAIN AT PRESENT but possiblility for end of August from around the 20th. and potential stays in September and afterwards.

The house, which I rent year-round, is 1 1/4 hours by ferry from Piraeus (port of Athens), in a beautiful part of the island with pine forest, a ten-minute walk to the sea. More details below.

Quiet, reliable non-smoker/s (or couple), 30-70 years of age, in good physical shape. Experienced gardeners most welcome.

I am fluent in GREEK, both spoken and written, and a native English- speaker who has also published articles in English. I play traditional music from various regions of Greece and also from Asia Minor, as well as some Ottoman classical (and other) music on violin.
Volunteers would be welcome to listen to music from my large collection of traditional music from Greece and Turkey and to peruse my collection of books about and guides to Greece (written in English). I'd be happy to help anyone with English or Greek language or teach them something about the music I play if they stay on after my return.

I have dug and planted a large, walled organic vegetable garden over the duration of 1 1/2 years. Watering, which I do with long hoses, must happen daily and takes about an hour. Harvesting of vegetables that are ready also needs to happen, but takes less than ten minutes usually. I need to have my two sterilized female cats fed twice daily, and the house looked after and kept reasonably clean.
A prior visit is much desired, as I need to feel secure with anyone who will stay in my home in my absence. Good coffee and an excellent meal would be offered by me and overnight stay possible.

Large, private room with double bed and its own toilet, with nice sloped wooden ceiling. The room, which is next to the larger veranda, looks out on the large, walled garden, and is almost like a little cabin.
There is a shower in the bathroom inside the main part of house and a good, well-equipped kitchen. Helpers can eat vegetables harvested from garden. I am not offering to cover food costs for the time I'm gone, as the exchange is basically the use of a fully-furnished, beautiful country house for a week for about 1 1/2 hours of garden and cat care per day. A good deal!
If a helper were to stay on for awhile after my return from trips away and help me out with cleaning, computer knowledge and/or garden, I would provide home-cooked meals.

There is Wi-Fi connection in the house and guest room. Lovely quiet, green area with pine woods close by.The house is on a very quiet dirt road, with only a couple of neighbors. Bus stop about 3-minute walk from house. Limited bus schedules to main town (25 minutes by bus), with none returning to this area after mid-afternoon and taxis expensive but good supermarkets 2 and 5km from house and return with groceries can be timed with bus coming here. Easy access on bicycle.
There are 5 tavernas within a ten-minute walk from house, two of them by the sea (but the cheapest, most traditional one only a 5-minute walk from house).
Very good food shopping in town/harbor.

The island is beautiful and offers a lot to see and do, especially for those with a vehicle. For those without, there's nice walking from house to sea or in the woods. The sea is a 10 minute walk from house with good swimming spots. The main town (also the harbor) is very pleasant, with neoclassical architecture, one long pedestrian street, a pedestrian walkway on the waterfront, a fish market and good grocery stores, various tavernas and cafes, traditional kafeneia (old-style Greek cafes) and a relaxed atmosphere. Small enough to walk around and see everything in an hour (at most). The coastlines offer beaches and coves of various types and sizes, and there is plenty of unspoiled nature up in the hills, with nice sea views. The small, very undeveloped, wooded island of Angistri is a short ferry ride away, with schedules that allow for day trips.
