  Description

  We are food commons and climate resilience hub based in the heart of the Irish midlands. Our walled garden in the town centre adjacent to Birr Castle Demense. We grow veg, and promote local food , renewable energy, and climate resilience through education and outreach. When coming to us you will find a home with a member of our team here in the town.

  Birr is full of cultural heritage and I used to host walks here so I know it well and am happy to share 3000 years of its history.

  Gardening, garden-engineering ,or, if its your strength, hosting learning sessions with our small local community. Also help around the house with the host.

  A bedroom in a house with a member of our team. Generally with internet and food from the garden (seasonally dependent).

  With your time off you will find plenty of nice walks in the surrounding area. Bikers will find a downhill biking resort on the Slieve Bloom mountains, Lough Boora Parklands, and Portumna Nature Park are not far. The midlands really holds a lot of natural beauty, people are very friendly and there is reasonably good public transport .

  You can drive into the drive way so you're off the road. Outdoor plug and water/tap and Internet works fine .
