Hello, I am Yves, originally from Belgium but living in Croatia for the past few years!
I am developing a project on a biiiiig piece of land (6 hectars) on the hills of Vis island for the past 2 years with some friends, and we aim at building a multi purpose venue that includes accommodation units, sauna, animal farm and garden, creative area for digital nomads, space for cultural events and education, as well as necessary infrastructure to host wellness retreats and active holidays.
At the start, the land was completely overtaken by nature (no human activity for more than 100 years), and since we arrived we worked on access and facilities (road, water, communal kitchen, basic shower and toilets), cleaned a lot of land and started growing vegetables. The comfort level is still basic, but improving every day :)
What we curently work on:
- Building : we are building several objects (A Frame cabins, compost toilets, storage,...) and welcome helping hands who know about woodwork and construction in general (concrete, water systems, electricty, mechanic...)
- Stonework : we have lots of hundreds of years old stone walls to fix and repair, as well as 2 stone houses, and work on their restauration (in the frame of an EU project, backed by Unesco). Stoneworkers and people with stone knowledge are HIGHLY welcome!!!!!
- Gardening & Farming : taking care of animals, clearing land, watering garden, collecting vegetables, planting / cutting trees, etc.
IMPORTANT: We are interested in hosting experienced carpenters, gardeners (chainsaw work...) and stone workers, as these are our main jobs at this stage of development! If you have any of these skills and think you can help us please contact us! :)

As people have been living on our land centuries ago, working here will teach you a lot about ancient culture and history of the island, from the Roman empire to the war of Yugoslavia. Vegetation is rich and abundant, so there is a lot to learn on that field too. If you work with us, you'll learn about farming in the Mediterranean climate, about carpentry, or about running cultural events. We also all love to cook, and we like to ferment things!
Ideally, we would like you to stay with us at least for 10 days, so there is time not only for helping out, but also for swimming, hiking, and unlocking the island hidden secrets! On site, we have solar panels, basic shower, many hammocks, 4, lovely neighbors, incredible panoramic view, and breathtaking sunrises and sunsets.
We provide you 3 meals a day and accommodation in exchange of 5 hours help per day, 5 days a week.
At this stage, what we need the most are skilled DIY, since we are building various objects on the land. Also, as we still have big area that needs to be cleaned, there is plenty of tasks for gardeners. Creative minds, proactive and motivated people are generally welcome since there is lots to do and to create!
We are also keen to host people with mechanic skills, who could take care of our cars and machinery.
