I stayed with Claudia and her family for about 2 weeks and I truly have to say it was a combination of the best of both worlds! I loved being able to enjoy the calmth at the country side and then return back to the vibrant city of Berlin.
The chores I helped out with varied a lot of the time. It could range from helping with the horses in the
… read more morning, weeding, cooking, walking Amor the dog, helping out in the garden... (I also loved making fruit salad for everyone during my free time, Matilda definetly loves it!) On the days that Moritz was home the main priority was to keep him occupied so we mainly played soccer, went on bikerides and coloured. Moritz was such a joy to be around, he truly is an amazing kid.

I stayed almost 1 month at Claudia's place, around 3 weeks at the farm, and 10 days at her flat in Berlin. It was my first workaway experience and it was totally worth it. … read more that is how easy to love someone and how important is to enjoy simple things in life. I think I learned more from him than he learned from me hehe. I really loved to play football with him, go on nice bike rides with him and Amor, a really beautiful dog. Sometimes I helped out also in the garden and worked with Matteo, the other workawayer from Italy, who was also a cool and nice guy. I also enjoyed the silence and that I had time to be with myself also. They also helped me to improve my german language skills. It was really special that I had the opportunity to visit Berlin also and it was luxury that she could provide me a room in her flat also in Berlin. It was my first time doing a Workaway project, so I did not have many expectations, but the overall experience was amazing, and I am very grateful for every moment of it. I planned to stay at Claudia's for two or three weeks but stayed for almost five months with short breaks.

… read more Moritz as I had not had experience working with children with special needs before, but this fear dissolved as soon as we met. Moritz is such a sweet bundle of love, and he radiates it with his whole essence. One should be ready for his sometimes unexpected acts of self-expression and hugs. After a very short time, we became best friends and could understand each other well without words. He also became a good teacher of presence, patience and acceptance for me.
My main responsibilities included playing with Moritz and walking with Amor, their beautiful dog; I would also pick Moritz up from school when we lived in Berlin. I cooked his favourite gluten-free pizza every other day, which was super easy to make. Sometimes I helped Claudia clean the house and do some simple tasks in the garden, which I immensely enjoyed. On average, I worked 4 hours a day, but occasionally I worked fewer or more hours when I had the capacity or desire. It was very flexible, and Claudia was always open to communication.
Claudia is a very calm and kind woman and was there for me when I needed help in a difficult situation. Sometimes we had little misunderstandings but could always resolve them without any problems. Claudia's daughter, Matilda, is also adorable, but we only connected a little due to a language barrier.

Marti was in fact one of the best workawayers we ever had. Obviously he is used to do a good job on his own responsibility and honour. I admired his capabilitys with the poletrimmer!
As a playmate for my handicapt son (12) he also did a good job and proofed his social qualities! He convinced him that he IS ABLE to drive bicycle wich I did not manage. Maybe he was so good in that because at home he deals with horses every day, maybe he is wise enough to wait for the right moment. .... I think for his age he his a very mature person .

… read more schön, es gibt tolle Wälder und Seen. Mit Claudia habe ich auch mein Deutsch verbessert.
Die Jobs sind hauptsächlich gespielte oder organisierte Aktivitäten für Moritz, es gab auch handwerkliche Jobs, die nicht sehr schwierig waren. Außerdem ist es nicht schwierig, mit Moritz zu spielen, er spielt gerne Fußball, Bogenschießen oder Radfahren, er ist ein lieber Junge. Ich habe es wirklich genossen, ihm das Fahrradfahren beizubringen, ich hatte danach ein unglaubliches Gefühl, dass ich es nie vergessen werde. Ich war stolz auf ihn. Im Sommer hat man die Möglichkeit, jeden Tag zu Seen zu fahren, wo man viel schwimmen kann. Die Seen sind nicht weit vom Haus entfernt.

I spent 20 days with Claudia and with her lovely family. Cluadia has been a very good host. She made sure that my 20 days with her was as comfortable as possible. I had a lot of time to visit Berlin, which is an awesome city, there are always a lot of things to do. When I was in the country, it was a quiet place and very beautiful, there are awesome forests and lakes. I also improved my German speaking with Claudia.
The jobs are mainly played or organisating activities for Moritz, there were also manual jobs that there were not very difficult. In addition, it's not difficult to play with Moritz, he enjoys playing football, archery shooting or cycling, he is a lovely kid. I really enjoyed teaching him how to ride a bike, I had an incredible feeling after that, I will never forget it. I was proud of him. In summer you will have the opportunity to go every day to lakes, where are good place to swim a lot. The lakes are not far from the house.
