Our Workaway experience at the Quinta was so rich in lessons, insights and ...beauty. We came to the Quinta to find ourselves welcomed by Edouard, Ilse, as well as Luna and Marley who really felt like our family! Plus, the Quinta is really a marvellous place to be! Something quite difficult to be captured in pictures, you will see.

… read more what? we ended up staying one month more, that is how lovely it was! We helped around the Quinta with whatever was needed, from gardening, to maintenance, to redecoration, feeding the hens or marketing work for their page. Also, we have done some house-sitting while the family was away for holidays. It has been a truly well-spent time and I cannot recommend them enough.
Edouard and Ilse are really laid back, open-minded and friendly people to be around and work with. We will miss them and probably visit them at some time in the future.
Overall, we are definitely recommending the place if you want to learn new things, to be around nature and to have some nice time off hiking or going to the beach.

During our stay, we worked on a variety of tasks such as gardening, learning to work with cement, fixing irrigation systems, feeding the hens, and performing general maintenance around the property and pool. Additionally, we assisted with hospitality during a retreat and helped enhance
… read more the property’s appearance by moving and raking gravel. We also visited each of the small rental houses to identify and implement improvements that would make them look even more charming.
The tasks were always well-explained, and Edoard and Ilse made sure we worked the fair amount of time, felt comfortable, and truly enjoyed what we were doing—they went out of their way to make us feel at home.
A highlight of our stay was spending time with their wonderful children, who quickly became very special to us. We wholeheartedly recommend this host to anyone considering a visit!

Quinta will always have a special place in our hearts. What Eduarde and Ilse have created in this land is beautiful and wholesome. They have a wonderful family and their children were a joy to interact with. We spent much of our time in the garden and food forest. There was always a lot going on and every day was different. The pool was the perfect place to cool off and relax after a day's work and evenings spent on the infinity deck, doing yoga and watching the sunset were truly magical. The local towns had so much to offer with the local fish and vegetable markets, and great shops and restaurants. Ilse was very helpful in suggesting where to go and how to get there. The bikes were great for getting us to where we wanted to go.
Eduarde and Ilse were very good at communicating, they were always open and accommodating if we felt something could be done better. We always felt looked after and that they were trying to make our experience the best it could be. Knowing my girlfriend likes to be creative, Ilse invited her to join the pottery class that she goes too. Also when we were invited to share a meal with them and their friends, French was the language of choice, but Ilse kindly translated for us so we didn't feel left out.

We stayed 2 weeks with Edouard and Ilse at their lovely Quinta in the Algarve. They have done an impressive job with the land which has a beautiful and diverse garden with cute little cottages they rent out and live in.
We stayed in a very comfortable studio where we could cook for ourselves and take coffee breaks while we worked. We did some
… read more work in the garden including clearing out a cistern, maintaining the irrigation, planting a few trees, spraying neem oil, watering and spreading mulch. We also did some painting, sanding, installing shelves and building a clothesline. We were able to be flexible with our time, sometimes stopping during the heat of the day and returning to work in the evening
Overall, it was quite a relaxing time that we really enjoyed. Edouard and Ilse are really friendly and interesting people, as are their kids, and they know how to look after volunteers. They even lent us bikes which meant we could go shopping in Moncarapacho (about 20 minutes) as well as go to the beach on our days off at Fuseta (about 45 minutes).
And the pool was amazing, perfect to cool down after a day’s work in the sun!
It was a lovely time and we would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting the Algarve.

How lucky have we been to have Josh and Carla as our first workawayers. Perfect fit! Always upbeat, driven, appreciative of the abundance of life & nature, and perfect hard workers to collaborate with. Smart problem solvers, multitalented, and rigorous in getting the work done and leaving no trace… What else could we wish for? Ah, yes.... great

Edouard and Ilse (and the kids) are very welcoming and such kind people. We felt at home right away and the Quinta is really a magical place! The work was very pleasant and there were lots of different jobs to do around the property. Edouard and Ilse are uncomplicated and it was great working together with them.
