Description
I'm hosting volunteers only in March & October for pruning olive trees and olive harvest.
Olive tree pruning = 1 week in march 2023
Olive harvest = 2 weeks in october 2023
Hello, my name is Pietro and I live and work in germany close to Frankfurt am Main and I travel 2-3x during the year to the my olive grove of my ancestors in order to cultivate, manage the harvest in october and pruning in march onside. I'm looking for volunteers to help me pruning & harvesting olive trees in sicily and make a nice and friendly experience on the olive grove.
I made a several nice experiences with many international workawayers in october 2020, 2021 & 2022 and would like to repeat it again with motivated and engaged volunteers and friendly people doing the same experience.
Harvesting and Picking olives is a manual work and is not done in 1 day. The expectation is that volunteers are motivated and are willing & able physically ready to work together in a team and help and support each other.
In addition we'll stay together in my private house and prepare and cook our own food (vegetarian) after the work.
If harvest or pruning is not possible due to weather condition everybody helps out for doings things in the household e g. put & staple the fire food, cleaning rooms, cleaning bathrooms, kitchen & dishes, removing weeds or other plants around the house or the olive grove, bringing/moving the firewood to the fireplace (living room) and prepare it for the evenings.
Repairing the damaged fences or fixing new fences and also repair different stuff or something around the house or the olive grove.
A team with working spirit and harmony will be an unforgettable memory for each participant. Everybody who joined and will join is able to understand how an organic olive oil is produced and how it should smell & taste. Conversation and cultural exchanges during the day and work during your stay is highly appreciated.

Originally, the plan was to harvest the olives close to the house but it was raining a lot at that time so that we could not start the harvest. Although I mainly came for the olives, I had a lot of fun without being able to help with the harvest. We cleaned the house, cut firewood and went… read more
